Godly care

Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord shall not impute sin.
Romans 4:7.8

Godly care
If we were able to compile a list of our deeds and thoughts, it would be endless. And there would be some of which we should not be proud. Perhaps they went unnoticed by our close relations or our colleagues. God, however, remembers everything. He records it all in His books (cf. Revelation 20:12). Do we imagine that we might be able to discuss them with Him and convince Him of our innocence? We ourselves cannot possibly obliterate what we have done, nor alter what we are.

God, however, pays heed to everyone who now recognises his wrongs, hopes to listen to Him and get to know Him. He is ready and willing to forgive totally, since Jesus has paid our debt on the cross. God's goodness and love towards us is immeasurable: He gave His only Son to deliver us from all our sins, and promises never to remember them again: "I am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins" (Isaiah 43:25).

Those who have accepted this promise of God's love He treats with great grace and attention: the very hairs of our head are all numbered (Luke 12:7), and even our steps are counted (Job 31:4). He knows the secrets of our hearts (Psalm 41:21). Being aware that God knows all about us and is interested in us gives a Christian a feeling of security and confidence.

Today's reading: Leviticus 9:1-24 · Psalm 55:17-24

However, there was only one person, spiritually speaking, who was a true Nazarite, and that was our Lord Jesus. He shows us that it is not a negative thing to be separated from the world but rather a...More

Adam found an excuse:

Jeremiah 17:9

In a discussion on the above text with some young people, the question was asked: how are we to understand the word "deceitful" here? After some consideration they reached this conclusion: deceitful means that the heart finds an excuse for everything. This seems a very apt...More
