Warning! Sharks!

They hear your words, but they do not do them.He (Jesus) said to them, (His disciples), If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.
Ezekiel 33:31; John 13:12.17

Warning! Sharks!
At a beach in Australia countless holiday makers are romping about in the warm water. Suddenly a siren sounds: a white shark is in sight. Just at that moment one tourist is swimming out to sea. When the dangerous animal approaches him there is consternation on the beach. Some observers throw stones in the direction of the swimmer to attract his attention. He realises that something unusual is happening, turns round and swims as fast as he can to the shore. Only there does he discover what danger he has escaped. He thanks those who warned him sincerely and explains that he is deaf.

Many people are unaware that, from a spiritual point of view, they are in grave danger. They hear the Word of God, but one might well imagine that they are deaf: they don't want to hear it! Long ago God said: "When I spoke, they did not hear" (Isaiah 66.4).

God warns people in many different ways. Because of our sins we can only expect eternal condemnation. So He urges us strongly and points us to Jesus Christ, the Saviour. We must turn to Him, if we are not to be lost.

"I spoke to you in your prosperity, but you said, I will not hear. This has been your manner from your youth, that you did not obey my voice. O earth, earth, earth; hear the voice of the LORD. (Jeremiah 22:21.29).

Today's reading: Leviticus 26:14-33 · Psalm 71:17-24

A WORD ON CLEAVING TO THE LORD (2)

Observe, they are exhorted with purpose of heart to cleave to the Lord. A distracted heart is the bane of a Christian. When my heart is filled with Christ, I...More

"Having opened their treasures, they offered to Him gifts, gold, and frankincense, and myrrh."
(Matthew 2:11)

THE BREVITY OF TIME

How recklessly this age speeds to self destruction! The word of God is accurate and authentic in its prediction of the latter end of the world and in warning His saints of the end times, so that they are not overtaken by the prevalence of evil in this age! In virtually every facet of life, there is an overturning...More
