Life snatched away

Now is the day of salvation.Prepare to meet your God.Worship God.
2 Corinthians 6:2; Amos 4:12; Revelation 22:9

Life snatched away
Five years ago today Paris was preparing for the weekend, as usual. Restaurant terraces, concert halls and stadiums were packed full. In the evening a series of terrorist attacks brutally mowed down 130 people, many of them youths.

Some days later national mourning was observed for the victims, whose names were read out slowly amid sombre silence. Hearing them, many must have thought that they might have been one of those victims.

Such a solemn moment raises a significant question: what comes after death? Nothingness? Indeed not! Eternity? Most certainly, for God has confirmed it in the Bible. Everyone will spend eternity either in God's presence or far from Him. There is no other alternative.

All should therefore sincerely ask the question: am I ready to meet God? Our life can topple from one moment to another, even under normal conditions. So our answer to the question is decided during our life. Let us listen to God. He invites everyone to believe in the Lord Jesus, who loved us to the point of submitting to the punishment that our sins deserved.

The invitation comes to you today, as tomorrow does not belong to you. Have you responded to God's appeal? Have you ever thanked Him for giving His only begotten Son to save you?

Today's reading: 2 Chronicles 4:1-22 · 2 Timothy 2:1-6

MEAL OF REMEMBRANCE

The Holy Communion is a very significant meal. Unlike regular meals, it a meal of remembrance. When some people take this meal, they forget to heed the instruction in today's Bible reading where the Lord repeatedly said "this do in remembrance of Me". In other words, the meal reminds us of God's power of...More
