Between scriptural Christianity and man’s religions there is...

Most assuredly I say to you, He who believes in me has everlasting life. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. But there are some of you who do not believe.Lord, to whom, shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.
John 6:47.63.64.68

Between scriptural Christianity and man's religions there is a fundamental difference, indeed a total contrast: the Bible announces salvation solely on the basis of grace through faith in Christ. Religions demand adherence to rites and efforts to reach and please God thereby. But man proves incapable of doing so. Therefore the Bible teaches us that God has already intervened by seeking man where he can be found.

Philosophy is the search for truth, whereas Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is the revelation of truth in His Person. He said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life" (John 14:6). That is not truth that we have to seek or fathom laboriously, but the eternal truth of God in the Person of Christ that enlightens us. It is not a matter of seeking and acquiring intellectual access to God but of responding to God's call.

It is faith in the Son of God that leads to salvation, not any human religion or ideology. That has become clear to many who had to acknowledge their limitation in hopeless situations. They responded to God's call. Varied individual experiences have led them to the one Person, Jesus Christ. And all who believe in the Son of God and His redemptive work testify that they did not come to Jesus by their efforts; He drew them.

Today's reading: 2 Chronicles 18:1-34 · Revelation 6:1-8

YOU CAN BE HIS WITNESS

BEFORE YOU GET ANGRY

Yesterday we learnt it is not right for us to get angry with God or to take offence against Him, even if we experience the deferment of our hopes. The example of John the Baptist who earlier acknowledged Jesus as the Messiah, but later doubted Him because of his painful experience of incarceration is a warning...More

...when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem...
Luke 2:45

We might as well face it, strife has even infiltrated our church life. It is true enough that the Church is now the Church militant. But, as such, its warfare ought to be that of dedication to revealed truth and divine...More
