God answers prayer

Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.
Psalm 50:15

God answers prayer
It was winter. As so often happens in this season, a sudden snowstorm arose between the United States and Canada. It makes the pilots of small aircraft shudder to be caught in such a storm. On this particular occasion it was a Christian missionary flying to Canada in his Cessna.

Visibility nil, radio contact not available, and the ice was increasing the weight of the plane. The pilot had to try to land, but only one of the wheels of the undercarriage could be lowered; the other was jammed. To make matters worse, there was a strong side wind. The pilot couldn't phone his family and ask them to pray to God for him. But God was watching over His servant. In this case that fearful side wind supported the wing on the side of the blocked wheel. So the pilot was able to land safely on the one wheel.

Some days later the pilot learned that at the time he was in that difficulty, someone at home had been praying intensely for him. A member of his family had been unable to attend the prayer meeting because of the inclement weather. So he prayed at home alone, specially for the missionary.

What power there is in confident prayer to God! When we find ourselves powerless in a difficult situation, we should admit it frankly to our living, omnipotent God and ask Him for help. He will not leave anyone in the lurch who sincerely trusts Him or truly wishes to experience His saving power.

Today's reading: 2 Chronicles 23:1-11 · Revelation 10:1-11

The Psalm writes, I trust in You, O Lord; I say, "You are my God." My times are in your hand' (vv. 14-15 NKJV). As you walk with God you'll find that you spend more time waiting than you do receiving. And when you receive what you're waiting for, then...More

A Statement Of Purpose To Live By

Always give yourselves fully.' 1 Corinthians 15:58 NIV

Next time you pass a McDonald's, think about this statement from the one of the founders: Ray Kroc. Press on! Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent....More
