An experienced teacher was once asked what qualities he...

The meekness and gentleness of Christ. The Lord is ... long-suffering to ward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
2 Corinthians 10:1; 2 Peter 3:9

An experienced teacher was once asked what qualities he considered essential for his profession. After a few moments' consideration he answered, "It goes without saying that he must have a sound knowledge of his subjects and a love of children and young people plus the ability to hold his pupils' interest and keep discipline. To go with these, if he is to be successful, he must be exceedingly patient and humble."

Unwittingly he had, with these last two features, named two beautiful characteristics of the Lord Jesus Christ. Although omnipotence and omniscience were His by right, He made no show of them. He approached the poor, the sick, the handicapped and those who had sunk into degradation in order to meet their need. They learned that "though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that you through his poverty might become rich" (2 Corinthians 8:9). We can also benefit from the stoop He made. The riches He has in store for us do not consist of material goods; they are of a spiritual, heavenly nature, beginning with salvation. We should never have known them but for His humility and the humiliation to which He subjected Himself in His death on the cross.

What patience He exercised towards those who opposed His teaching! He never permitted their hostility to alter His pathway of obedience to His Father's will. And that patience is still motivated by His Father's will that none should perish. Jesus Christ is still waiting for you to repent and accept the salvation he wrought. Avail yourself of the opportunity while you still have the chance! Our humble, patient Saviour is ready to receive you.

Today's reading: 2 Chronicles 26:1-15 · Revelation 12:10-18

THE GREAT DELIVERER

God is great but He humbles Himself to the level of His children to deliver them. The one who will deliver you must be stronger than the enemy holding you captive. The reason He is able to deliver is because He is stronger than all your enemies put together. This is why in

NO FOOD FOR THE LAZY MAN

Laziness is not a Christian virtue in any way. Our Lord Jesus Christ made this clear by His lifestyle of hard work while here on earth. A lifestyle of laziness is outrightly rejected in Scriptures typified by today's Bible reading. It is amazing that some people are still expecting God to rain manna on earth! It does...More
