Whiter than snow

Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness:
Psalm 51:7; 1 John 1:9

Whiter than snow
I like to recall the winters of my childhood and the games we played in the snow. There was no pleasure like it, but it took only a few hours and the snow was no longer brilliant white but dirty grey. What joy to discover next morning that fresh snow, beautifully white, had fallen! The snowmen, the toboggan slopes were covered over again. It was pure delight.

What a fine illustration of the forgiveness of sins! Our heart may be soiled by wrongdoing, but if we confess it, Jesus "covers" everything. His work on the cross accounted for all our sins: He bore them all. If we confess them to God, He forgives us, just as a father forgives his child, for the work of Christ cleanses us, like the snow covering the landscape.

Even if we are certain that God has forgiven us, we can sometimes find it difficult to accept the perfection of Christ's work and God's full forgiveness, especially when we have committed a sin that, to our mind, is serious. The apostle John affirms clearly, however: "The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin" (1 John 1:7). There is no black list of sins that God would not forgive or for which we could redeem ourselves. It is not a case of feeling forgiven, but of believing God's promise.

The devil always seeks to condemn us and bind our sins on us. But God forgives; He frees us from them and remembers them no more (Hebrews 10:17).

Today's reading: 2 Chronicles 35:16-27 · Revelation 21:15-27

FASTING IS NECESSARY

To relate with the Holy Spirit, you must be holy. You must also exercise a living faith, pray and fast. Some people will tell you that because had finished the work of salvation, there is no need to fast. To them, fasting is completely needless and is some form of self-inflicted punishment. But they forget that...More

REWARD FOR LABOUR

Jacob sojourned with Laban and laboured for him for several years. At first, his host was cheating him at every opportunity, and the years of his hard labour were almost in vain. Down the line, God had to intervene to enable Jacob eat the fruit of his labour. For a reader of this devotional, in every area that you...More

HOW PROPHETIC ARE YOUR NAMES?

The name you bear is very important because it serves as your identity and your future may be connected to it. The name a person bears is sometimes indicative of the experiences he or she will encounter in life. Take for instance Moses: this name means "drawn out of water"

Bible in one year:
