Noah’s faith

By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household.
Hebrews 11: 7.

Noah's faith
The basis of his faith was the word of God. When God informed him of the pending judgment, he believed the message and built an ark. Today genuine faith also rests on God's eternally valid sayings. His word alone gives conviction and security.

The object of his faith was invisible. Noah believed the unseen God and reckoned with the flood of water submerging the earth, as announced, although it had not yet rained. Biblical faith goes beyond the visible world, holding firmly to God's existence in the conviction that all His prophecies will come to pass.

The activity of his faith was seen in his building the ark. With assurance and readiness Noah followed the divine instructions. Every blow from the hammer was proof that he believed God. True, heartfelt faith becomes visible in our life. Whoever believes God is willingly subject to Him and prepared to obey His word.

The result of Noah's faith was the preservation from the flood. Because he believed God and obeyed Him, he and his family entered the ark and were saved. Whoever believes the gospel of the grace of God and takes refuge in the Redeemer Jesus Christ escapes divine judgment and is saved for eternity.

Jesus said: "He who hears my word and believes in him who sent me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but is passed from death into life" (John 5: 24).

Today‘s reading: Numbers 2: 1 - 34 · Matthew 2: 13 - 23

BEFORE YOU GET ANGRY

Yesterday we learnt it is not right for us to get angry with God or to take offence against Him, even if we experience the deferment of our hopes. The example of John the Baptist who earlier acknowledged Jesus as the Messiah, but later doubted Him because of his painful experience of incarceration is a warning...More

Luke 2:45

We might as well face it, strife has even infiltrated our church life. It is true enough that the Church is now the Church militant. But, as such, its warfare ought to be that of dedication to revealed truth and divine...More
