“Who wrote that?”

Prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
2 Peter 1: 21.

"Who wrote that?"
When the teacher entered the classroom, she found a handwritten poem on her desk. She liked it: every line had been written in a different colour, and the text pleased her.

"Who wrote this nice poem?" she asked the class in her surprise. Nicolas put up his hand: "I wrote the first line in red." Matthew continued: "And I wrote the second in blue." The teacher interrupted the next pupil: "The coloured pencils were only the tools that wrote the words on the paper. Who composed the poem? Which of you was the author?" The children answered unanimously: "It was Leah." She had composed the poem for the teacher's birthday, and the class had written it down.

Some people regard the Bible as a collected work of texts written by human beings. They only see the instruments that God used: Moses, the law giver, David, the shepherd and king, Matthew, the tax collector, Luke, the doctor and Peter, the fisherman.

It is true that the writers of the different parts could not be more diverse. However, they were not the authors of this harmonious work. God Himself inspired them, through the Holy Spirit, to write down literally what each one had to record in his time and location. God's book thus forms a wonderful, unified whole. It is His Word for us human beings, and is today just as topical as when it was written.

Lord, Thy Word abideth,
And our footsteps guideth;
Who its truth believeth
Light and joy receiveth.
(H. W. Baker)

And she shall bring forth a Son, and thou shalt call His name Jesus: for He shall save His people from their...More

JESUS IN YOUR BOAT

No doubt, life in a sense is like the sea. A characteristic of the sea is that storms of varying degrees arise, putting the lives of those sailing on it in jeopardy of being drowned. In Jesus' Name, the storms of life will not be able to drown you, your family and your business. While literal storms are natural...More
