Thoughts on the Gospel of John (27)

Nicodemus said to him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born? Jesus answered, Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
John 3: 4 - 6.

Thoughts on the Gospel of John (27)
Being born again - how was Nicodemus to understand that? Should one somehow supernaturally re-enter one's mother's womb to be born again? The Son of God could not possibly have meant that. He was speaking here of spiritual things, in contrast to Nicodemus who relied on his natural imagination. No number of re-births through one's own mother, were that possible, would ever change man's nature: he would remain "flesh". .

Adam found an excuse:

Jeremiah 17:9

In a discussion on the above text with some young people, the question was asked: how are we to understand the word "deceitful" here? After some consideration they reached this conclusion: deceitful means that the heart finds an excuse for everything. This seems a very apt...More
