Following Jesus

As he (Jesus) walked by the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. Then Jesus said to them, Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men. They immediately left their nets and followed him.
Mark 1: 16 - 18.

Following Jesus
In the gospels we often hear Jesus say, "Follow me" or "Come after me." Jesus never calls anyone to serve Him, but to follow Him. Today, all who have been saved by His work on the cross, for whom He laid down His life, are invited to accompany Him. When He chose His disciples, the first reason given is for them to be with Him: "He appointed twelve that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach, and to have . We may have to abandon things we have become attached to like certain habits. Let us act like Peter and Andrew: "They immediately left their nets and followed him".
