When he rose on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene.

At the end of the four gospels one event is reported on which they concur, and which introduces a new age: Christ rose again from the dead. The day of the resurrection was our Sunday. On that day the Lord had four significant encounters:

He first met a woman near the tomb who was weeping for her deceased Lord. Jesus comforted her. He enabled her to recognise Him .
It is therefore not surprising that the early Christians designated the day of the resurrection of Christ as the Lord's Day. It was the day on which His glorious victory over death and the devil was confirmed.
