Change and constancy: a contrast

He himself (Jesus Christ) has said, I will never leave you nor forsake you.

He always lives to make intercession for them.

Hebrews 13: 5; 7: 25.

Change and constancy: a contrast
Some time ago I phoned my doctor who has been treating me for years, only to be told by his assistant that he had retired. Another doctor, whom I did not know, was going to replace him. Dismayed, I ended the conversation, feeling deserted.

For some time I have been having care at home, but the nurses frequently change. I find it difficult to adapt myself to them, as I have to explain everything all over again.

For fifty years I have had the same neighbours, and we often helped each other. If I had a problem, I could call them out even at night. However, a short time ago they moved away.

Indeed, nothing in our world is permanent. Helpful supports that we have trusted and rely on are suddenly missing. Our parents and friends pass away.

But, happily, I belong to Christ! This is something that comforts me: .

Christ bore the just punishment for my sins by dying for me on the cross. And His wise and loving care accompanies me day by day. Christ knows me through and through, much better than I know myself. Whereas every human helper resigns or dies, Jesus lives for evermore: He will care for me to the end. When my time comes to take leave of this earth: He will take me to be with Him in glory for eternity. What constancy and steadfastness that is! What assurance it gives me!

Today‘s reading: 1 Samuel 9: 15 - 27 · Psalms 91: 9 - 16

THE GREAT DELIVERER

God is great but He humbles Himself to the level of His children to deliver them. The one who will deliver you must be stronger than the enemy holding you captive. The reason He is able to deliver is because He is stronger than all your enemies put together. This is why in

NO FOOD FOR THE LAZY MAN

Laziness is not a Christian virtue in any way. Our Lord Jesus Christ made this clear by His lifestyle of hard work while here on earth. A lifestyle of laziness is outrightly rejected in Scriptures typified by today's Bible reading. It is amazing that some people are still expecting God to rain manna on earth! It does...More
