A thorough change
After sailing through the storm on the lake, Jesus and His disciples landed in the country of the Gadarenes. There they met a man who was totally possessed by occult powers and so violent that people were afraid of him. But the Son of God is more powerful than the devil. He freed the man from Satan's power by commanding the evil spirits to come out of him. His deliverance was immediately obvious. People who had known him previously saw him dressed and sitting calmly at Jesus' feet.

Such a change takes place in a spiritual sense for everyone who through faith in the Lord Jesus is saved from Satan's domain of power.

As the redeemed we are no longer in our sinful condition before God, but are clothed with . Our thoughts of God and ourselves were erroneous. But through the Word of God the Holy Spirit corrected our way of thinking. The new, divine life that we now possess enables us to understand and think as God does.

Regarding our sins we have found peace in Jesus Christ. We know that at the cross He bore the punishment that we deserved. Our conscience is therefore no longer burdened.
