With this accusation Jesus Christ was condemned to death by...

The Jews answered him (Pilate), We have a law, and according to our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.
John 19: 7.

With this accusation Jesus Christ was condemned to death by the religious leaders of His people and handed over to the Romans governor Pilate. Other reasons, however, also played a part in that shameful legal process.

First there was the motive in the hearts of the high priests and scribes: their envy led them to have Jesus killed. . There remained only one ground for the Sanhedrin's condemnation: Jesus claimed to be the Son of God.
