Christ, the Victor over death (3)

He who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, Loose him, and let him go!
John 11: 44.

Christ, the Victor over death (3)
Lazarus was dead. Corruption had already set in. Nevertheless the Lord cried out with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come forth!" And the miracle happened. The dead man came out of the tomb by himself in the power of the new life given him. He was still wearing the graveclothes in which his body had been wrapped. So the Lord said to the bystanders, "Loose him, and let him go!" Those wrappings were not to hinder his freedom of movement any longer.

Even those who have been raised from spiritual death to eternal life through Jesus Christ often find themselves hampered by habits, ideas and inclinations of former days. Practically, the life of faith is a long process of learning. So it is good when they have experienced understanding Christians around them to help them to lay aside these "graveclothes". They need to learn . At that memorable supper there was a place for Lazarus "who had been dead". There, in the illustration of the anointing oil that Mary poured on the Lord's feet, the fragrance of worship rose. No word is heard from Lazarus' lips, but he is a living example of fellowship, which cannot be separated from worship and Christian service.

LIFE IN ABUNDANCE 1

Under normal circumstances, no human being desires to be a nonentity. The various forces in the world however, are responsible for many people spending their entire life amounting to nothing and dwelling in the valley of not-well-to-do persons. The Almighty God Himself in making man did not intend for him to be a...More
