God's mighty power
Sitting on the beach, we can look out to sea and watch the waves approaching in the distance. They are still over a hundred metres away. More than an hour will pass before high tide is reached. Have you ever considered what power there is behind that unceasing movement of thousands and thousands of tons of water twice a day for centuries on end? Has man ever produced such power? God's mighty power is unlimited. We do not appreciate it in physical manifestations alone; it has also been revealed in His ways with mankind.

Have you ever despaired of infamous criminals who, to all appearances, cannot change their character for the better? They are powerless to keep out of crime, but God could, and would, give them the spiritual strength to lead another life. It is not only hardened felons whose weakness of character drives them to evil. All wrong, all unrighteousness is sin, and no-one can claim to be free from sin. However hard we may try, we slip up incessantly, even if we do not admit it. This is where God's power comes in.

If we accept Jesus Christ as our Saviour, we can know that God judged our sins and our sinful nature when His beloved Son hung on the cross. We then possess new, eternal life. God has thus given us the power to live according to His will: . There is power indeed, and it knows no ebb and flow!
