These were the words Jesus spoke to Jairus, the...

Do not be afraid; only believe.
Luke 8: 50.

These were the words Jesus spoke to Jairus, the ruler of the synagogue, when the news came that his only daughter had died. When Jairus came to Jesus to ask His help, his child was still alive. Now all hope seemed to have vanished.

When anyone brings his matter before the Lord, it is in the best hands! The Lord is faithful and has only our good in mind, as Jairus was to realise.

It may be that someone has trusted the Lord Jesus Christ for the salvation of his soul, his eternal destiny, and relied on Him, but has no assurance of salvation. The Lord's saying: "Do not be afraid; only believe" also apply there.

We should like to recall two other sayings of the Son of God that can give assurance and peace. They are: "It is finished!" and "It is written" (; Luke 4:4).

The first of these sayings gives us security from coming judgment; for "Christ died for our sins" (1 Corinthians 15: 3). Redemption has been accomplished; the Son of God "died for the ungodly" (Romans 5: 6). And Scripture states: "He who believes in him is not condemned" (John 3: 18).

The second saying: "It is written" gives our heart the certainty needed. It shows how Jesus Christ Himself fully trusted the written Word of God and its promises. His Word is truth. So we, too, can fully trust all that the Bible says. Whoever relies on God's Word will never be disappointed.

If our eternal salvation is founded on Christ and His Word, we are safe.

"Do not be afraid, only believe."

Today‘s reading: Ezekiel 1: 1 - 21 · Psalms 113; 114

FASTING IS NECESSARY

To relate with the Holy Spirit, you must be holy. You must also exercise a living faith, pray and fast. Some people will tell you that because had finished the work of salvation, there is no need to fast. To them, fasting is completely needless and is some form of self-inflicted punishment. But they forget that...More

Jacob sojourned with Laban and laboured for him for several years. At first, his host was cheating him at every opportunity, and the years of his hard labour were almost in vain. Down the line, God had to intervene to enable Jacob eat the fruit of his labour. For a reader of this devotional, in every area that you...More

HOW PROPHETIC ARE YOUR NAMES?

The name you bear is very important because it serves as your identity and your future may be connected to it. The name a person bears is sometimes indicative of the experiences he or she will encounter in life. Take for instance Moses: this name means "drawn out of water"

Bible in one year:
