The great choice
Life involves an uninterrupted succession of choices to make. They may have to do with the present or the future, merely concerning insignificant daily problems or, on the contrary, they may extend over our whole life and, what is extremely earnest, our eternal future.

If you do not know God, you resemble a traveller who has reached a road junction. There are two roads before you to choose from. Their appearance may be deceiving. The road leading to destruction is broad, the pathway leading to life is narrow (Matthew 7:13.14). The broad road looks easier and, what is reassuring, you will be among many others. It will not involve renouncing anything, quite the opposite, it will meet your desires, even your covetousness. But it leads to destruction.

Choose rather the narrow path leading to life. To take it you need to abandon any pretence of being righteous before God and to put all pride aside, accepting Jesus as the only Saviour. This vital choice is before you for the taking: on the one hand, the path leading to God, but it means recognising that you need His grace; on the other hand, the path that definitely leads away from Him. Perhaps you imagine you can avoid making a decision. Then your choice has been made already. You are staying on the path leading far away from God to eternal death. Choosing the beneficial pathway is choosing life, i.e. choosing Jesus Christ.
