Jesus Christ is “the Prince of life”; He said of...

Knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over him.
Romans 6:9.

Jesus Christ is "the Prince of life"; He said of Himself: "I am the life" (Acts 3:15; John 14:6). There was a time when death had briefly "dominion" over Him. Jesus never merited death, which is the consequence of sin. As He never sinned, but was absolutely holy and righteous, He was, in contrast to all other human beings, not inevitably subject to death.

So why was there a time when death had "dominion" over Him? It was because Jesus Himself voluntarily bore the punishment for sinful people, dying for them as their substitute in God's judgment. On the cross Jesus cried out: "It is finished!", then bowed His head and gave up His spirit. He died. From that moment it appeared that Satan had been victorious. Jesus' body was taken down from the cross and laid in a tomb. For us the grave is the final station of our life on earth. But death could not hold the Lord Jesus Christ. As He had told His disciples previously, He rose from the dead three days later.

Then death's dominion was over. The few persons whom the prophets or Jesus had resurrected all died again. But Christ left the domain of death as its conqueror and therefore will never die again. His resurrection proved Him to be the stronger One. By His death He finally conquered Satan.

Simultaneously Jesus brought redemption to all who believe in Him. Because He died for their sins as their substitute, they are associated with Him both in death and resurrection. In the power of His resurrection Jesus will raise all believers and take them to be with Himself in the glory of heaven.

SUBSTITUTION

"The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead. "

At oftentimes, if a particular incident that has been slated against the righteous must surely be carried out, God gives the captor...More
