In His great love toward mankind the Son of God humbled Himself in...

Therefore God also has highly exalted him and given him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:9-11.

In His great love toward mankind the Son of God humbled Himself in a twofold manner: Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God and Creator of the world became Man, entered His creation and lived on this earth. Then He went to the cross and voluntarily sacrificed His life for us. For that God highly exalted His Son. He returned to heaven and as Man took the highest place at His Father's side. In this position Jesus Christ stands over all creatures. Everyone will one day have to bow before Him to acknowledge Him as Lord.

It is right and proper that we should now be subject to Him. Whoever has accepted Him as his Saviour does so willingly. Owning Him as Lord, we constantly thank Him for dying for us and our sins. All others on earth who reject Him now will not be able to avoid acknowledging His authority. They will be standing before Christ as their Judge, no longer as the Saviour.

When every creature acknowledges Jesus Christ as Lord, it will be to the glory of God the Father. That God is holy and righteous will then be revealed indisputably at His judgment seat. Contrariwise, for all the redeemed God and the Lord Jesus Christ will be the centre of joy and worship for all eternity.

"We see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honour" (Hebrews 2:9).

Today's reading: Genesis 32:1-21 · Psalms 18:38-50

Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
(Galatians 6:1-2)
