I am (7)

I am the way, the truth, and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me.
John 14:6.

I am (7)
Shortly before His death on the cross, the Lord Jesus informed His disciples about His return to His Father's house, to which He would introduce them at a later point in time. He told them that they knew the way, at which Thomas protested their ignorance of both the destination and the way there. The Lord then pointed out three essentials for attaining the Father's presence: the proper and exclusive way, the truth and everlasting life.

The significance of knowing the right way hardly needs emphasising in this age of rapid communications. Each one of us has, at some stage, discovered that he was on the wrong road and had to turn back without delay so as to ensure arriving at the intended destination. If anyone has a heartfelt desire to get to heaven, it is a more serious error to realise that the path chosen is the wrong one when it is too late, i.e. after death.

Jesus is the way to the Father's house and to the Father Himself: there is no other. Whoever tries to slip by Him will fail to reach the goal. God's Word says so clearly: "There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death" (Proverbs 14:12). Everyone would rather attain eternal life at the end of his earthly pathway than eternal judgment, but one matter cannot be overlooked: the truth. Why do so many people reject God's way? Because they would have to condemn their sinful life and their self-righteousness. We cannot evade acknowledging the Lord Jesus Christ as the truth.

(to be continued next Monday)

CAN SATAN RIGHTLY ACCUSE YOU?

Besides discouragement, another weapon Satan uses often against believers is their weaknesses. He simply studies an individual for a period of time and not long after, he identifies the fellow's weakness and capitalizes on it. Take for instance Peter. Satan discovered that Peter is a cowardly person-lacking in...More

DON'T KILL YOURSELF FOR NOTHING

Do hope you are learning from our meditations through Psalm 73. It pictures to us the reality of everyday living. I do hope you are realizing that after all there is no point envying the prosperous wicked. Do not kill yourself for nothing. You have your life to live. Do not be a puppet dancing the...More

Hudson Taylor...

John 19:30

The parents of Hudson Taylor (1832-1905), the well-known missionary in China, were believers. From their example, he noticed early in life how helpful prayer and the Bible are.
His parents' exemplary life impressed him, and he endeavoured to be as good a Christian as they were....More
