Hell and the second death

Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power. The lake of fire: this is the second death. And anyone not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Revelation 20:6.14.15.

Hell and the second death
In the book of judgments, the Revelation, there is a third expression for hell: "the second death". What does it mean? Everybody is destined to die once. God had warned Adam that, if he disobeyed, he would die (Genesis 2:17). Since then death has been the earthly end of every human being. Afterwards, as God states, there is certain judgment (Hebrews 9:27), but not for believers. (John 5:24). Death does not terminate our existence. Everyone will be resurrected.

For those who have put their trust in Jesus there will be a "resurrection of life", eternal life in heaven with their Saviour.

For the others, whose name was not written in the "book of life" it will be a "resurrection of condemnation", i.e. they will hear the verdict and their sentence and will go to hell to be "punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord" (2 Thessalonians 1:9). That is the second death.

God is righteous and just; He warns us each one. On judgment day nobody will be able to complain that he has been taken by surprise. Everyone must decide without waiting. God invites all to accept His grace through faith in Jesus, who endured His wrath on the cross in our stead. Whoever believes on the Lord Jesus and His sacrifice has his name written in the book of life. To refuse such grace is to face "a certain fearful expectation of judgment and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries" of God (Hebrews 10:27). Make the choice of "the blessed".

Behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a Son, and thou shalt call His name Jesus: for He shall save His people from their...More

TOTAL COMPLIANCE REQUIRED

When we teach about tithes and first fruits, some people think that it is the pastor's way of making money but they are making a great mistake. When you put God first, He will make sure that your blessings are irreversible. But if you decide to give Him second place in your life, you may not be happy to see what...More

FACING OUR PAST

Like Paul,we don't need to parade our failures or to pretend they didn't happen. Instead, we can thank the Lord that through His grace and power, our past is forgiven, our presence is changed, and our future is bright with hope for all he has prepared for us. - David...More
