I am the way, the truth, and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me.
John 14:6.

I am (8)
It is exceedingly difficult to define the truth in positive terms. On the other hand, it is relatively easy to say what it is not by using negative phrases. With the help of a man of God with a clear understanding of His Word it is possible to give the following explanation:

The truth is a divine property that serves as a measuring standard, so that everything can be assessed in its actual character, whether it be good or bad, whether men, angels or demons; even God Himself can be judged according to this standard.

On this basis we can understand why the Lord Jesus could assert that He is the truth. In comparison with, or rather in contrast to Him everything is put in its proper perspective. I do not need to occupy myself with others: Jesus Christ, the Son of God, reveals my own heart. It is equally vain to search my brain for laudable works or motives for my actions. A consideration of the holy, righteous Son of God will suffice to convict me of all the faults, omissions and evils that constitute my natural being. In a word, I am a sinful person in need of a Saviour.

God has given the world that Saviour. He did not spare His only-begotten Son, but executed His judgment on sin on the only perfect Man to walk on this earth. Accept Him in faith and you will understand why He is the truth.
