The Bible tells us repeatedly that God hears...

O you who hear prayer, to you all flesh will come.

This poor man cried out, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.

Psalm 65:2; 34:6.

The Bible tells us repeatedly that God hears. He hears us when we cry to Him in troublesome situations. Indeed, He hears our groaning and sighing: He hears and is ready to come and help (cf. Exodus 3:7.8).

Among people it is often the subordinate one who listens to his superior, the pupil to his teacher, the workman to his boss; and it is difficult for us to find a listening ear in someone in a high position. But God is quite different. He is a God of goodness and He takes the first step, approaching His creature. He listens, but not from afar off. He is near and He acts: "I have heard your prayer. I have seen your tears; surely I will heal you" (2 Kings 20:5).

We might ask whether He hears, if we speak to Him. Do we pray consciously and sincerely to Him? God is not concerned about the length of our prayer: He will answer anyone who turns to Him in childlike trust. Shouldn't we learn to pray to Him from the heart, telling Him our needs and our feelings? (cf. Luke 11:5.8).

Let us pray earnestly and continually, even if it seems as if God doesn't answer. Job, a man of faith in antiquity, could be our example. He prayed earnestly and patiently. And the answer God gave him was greater and more wonderful than Job had ever imagined. Like Job, we can tell God everything that oppresses us, even what makes us complain, and then confidently await His response.

"Job answered the LORD and said, I know that you can do everything, and that no purpose of yours can be withheld from you" (Job 42:1.2).

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, ...

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, says to Him in Hebrew, Rabboni, which means Teacher. Jesus says to her, Touch Me not, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, I ascend to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.

We have not a high priest not able to sympathize with our infirmities, but tempted in all things in like manner, sin apart.

PROVOKING POSITIVE CHANGE

Change is one event that is constant in life. Change denotes movement from one state to another. There are two categories of change: positive and negative. Due to the fact that change can either be positive or negative, Africans would say: "Change is good for the poor but bad for the rich". Change in life is...More
