Our need of forgiveness (1)

I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.

They brought to him a paralytic lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you.

Jeremiah 31:34; Matthew 9:2.

Our need of forgiveness (1)
Who doesn't need forgiveness to wipe out the past? Who doesn't long for a life of peace with God that will continue into the future?

Hidden secrets that obsess us and guilty acts committed with full knowledge, and that make us ashamed, remain anchored in our memory. Who can free us from them? Will they go with us into the life beyond?

Jesus Christ is the only One who can respond to this need of forgiveness, peace and eternal security. His death on the cross wiped out sins. When He sees things that seem impossible to forget and that are not forgiven, He says, "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool" (Isaiah 1:18). "Their sin I will remember no more" (Jeremiah 31:34). "Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven" (Psalm 32:1). "There is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus" (Romans 8:1). "The gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23).

God definitely forgives! But we must recognise and confess what we have done (cf. 1 John 1:9). God can then say, "The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin" (1 John 1:7).

(to be concluded on Monday)

Today's reading: Ecclesiastes 1:1-11 · Mark 4:10-20

My times are in Your hand'Psalms 31:15 NKJV

The Psalm writes, I trust in You, O Lord; I say, "You are my God." My times are in your hand' (vv. 14-15 NKJV). As you walk with God you'll find that you spend more time waiting than you do receiving. And when you receive what you're waiting for, then...More

A Statement Of Purpose To Live By

Always give yourselves fully.' 1 Corinthians 15:58 NIV

Next time you pass a McDonald's, think about this statement from the one of the founders: Ray Kroc. Press on! Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent....More
