Rich without knowing it

You search the scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of me.

The blessing of the LORD makes one rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.

John 5:39; Proverbs 10:22.

Rich without knowing it
During the recession in the U.S.A. in 1930 a modest farmer owned a vast area of land in the west of Texas. He lived in poverty, struggling to feed his family, when a petrol company asked his permission to carry out a drilling on his property. Thinking he had nothing to lose, the farmer allowed it. At a moderate depth the company discovered the most important oil field ever found in North America. It could produce more than 80,000 barrels per day. Overnight that farmer had become a multi-millionaire. In fact, he had been one since the day he purchased the land. The oil was there without his knowing it.

That makes us think of those who possess a Bible, but have never read from it. The Word of God has immense riches for us to discover. It is the message of love and truth of our Creator. "Living and powerful" (Hebrews 4:12), it works in our inner being, if we read it and accept it as Jesus defined it: "Your Word is truth" (John 17:17). Might we be afraid of the upheaval it might cause in our heart and conscience? It is God's means of acquainting us with His grace and goodness in Jesus and of granting us eternal life.

The farmer didn't hesitate. So let us not hesitate when God tells each one: "Choose life!" There are no greater riches.

The Bible is a unique book; its message of forgiveness and deliverance brings about a thorough transformation in our being.

Today's reading: Exodus 2:1-15 · Luke 1:13-25

OF KEYS AND DOORS

Every apartment or compartment with a lock has its key. It takes a key to open the gate of a house and several keys to enter the house its rooms. If you have fridge, car or wardrobe, you will equally have their keys. From the foregoing therefore, it is apparent that several good things with value have their...More

APPLY THE KEY

Every blessing worth its salt requires a key without which the seeker cannot access it. While some people have never experienced open doors, others once did, but the doors hitherto opened to them have been shut. In
