The secret of happiness

‘For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do.’ Ephesians 2:10 CSB

What kind of work environment brings out the best in you? Do you thrive on routine? Are you motivated by people’s needs? Do you enjoy tackling challenges that might discourage others? How about your relationships? Do you enjoy being part of a team, or do you work better alone? If you only come to life when you’re around people, you will probably be miserable sitting in front of a computer all day.

What are your strengths? God said of Bezalel, the builder, ‘”And I have filled him with the Spirit of God in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all kinds of craftsmanship, to create artistic designs for work in gold, in silver, and in bronze, and in the cutting of stones for settings, and in the carving of wood, so that he may work in all kinds of craftsmanship.”’ (Exodus 31:3-5 NASB20). What makes your eyes sparkle and your pulse race? Do you enjoy working with computers, cars, or animals? Maybe you’re an adept people manager, or you like fixing things, or you’re good with finances. The Bible says, ‘For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do.’ (Ephesians 2:10 CSB).

God has a purpose for your life, and you will experience your highest levels of happiness and fulfilment when you discover and begin to fulfil that purpose. You’re not just another brick in the wall or another nail in the carpenter’s toolbox! God ‘personally formed and made you’ (see Isaiah 43:7). You’re the only ‘you’ He created, and if you fail to be who you are, His Kingdom won’t benefit from your unique contribution. That’s why Paul wrote, ‘Let each person examine his own work, and then he can take pride in himself alone, and not compare himself with someone else.’ (Galatians 6:4 CSB). That’s the secret of happiness.

OFFENDED IN CHRIST?

The Christian race must be run with lots of patience or else it will be bungled midway. If you are inpatient with Gods timing, you will not only get into trouble but may not be able to finish the race. A good number of backsliders derailed from their heavenly track because of impatience. In Matthew 11:6 Jesus...More

Jehovah appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre. And...

Jehovah appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre. And he sat at the tent-door in the heat of the day. And he lifted up his eyes and saw, and behold, three men standing near him.
(Genesis 18:1)

The spiritual elevation of Abraham in Genesis 18 and 19 is something very peculiar. He seems...More

THE HOLY SPIRIT

It is one thing to receive the anointing and another to keep growing on it. There are people who had the anointing, but today, everything has virtually ebbed out. It is possible to connect with the Holy Spirit and to continue to flow in the power of the anointing even at increasing levels. If this is your desire,...More

BEFORE YOU GET ANGRY

Yesterday we learnt it is not right for us to get angry with God or to take offence against Him, even if we experience the deferment of our hopes. The example of John the Baptist who earlier acknowledged Jesus as the Messiah, but later doubted Him because of his painful experience of incarceration is a warning...More
