2026 New Year’s Resolutions for You and Your Church

Beyond typical New Year's resolutions, discover 15 biblically-inspired goals to transform your faith and leadership in the coming year.

2026 New Year’s Resolutions for You and Your Church

It’s that time of year again.

We’re going to lose weight, exercise more, get out of debt, stick to a budget, stop smoking, save for the future, and spend more time with family.

We make resolutions because we want to bring change to bear on our circumstances. We want to improve ourselves and our quality of life. And the top resolutions, for most people, tend to revolve around the same three poles: money, health, and family.

But what would a set of New Year’s resolutions look like for you and your church, your role as a leader, or simply as someone who wants to live a life of strategic Kingdom investment?

And...more

Dangerous Liberty and the Safey in Silence

Dangerous Liberty and the Safey in Silence

After several years in jail, former media tycoon Jimmy Lai has been found guilty of subversive activities. To China, “subversive” means speaking truths not approved by Beijing. Lai spoke out when silence was safer.

The story of Lai’s remarkable life is told in a documentary by the Acton Institute. Born in poverty, he became one of the wealthiest men in the once-free city of Hong Kong. When the Communists began to crackdown on any dissent, he could have fled to the West. But he chose to stay, and now the tyrants want to make an example of him.

As Robert Sirico put it in a Daily Wire article,

The verdict was preordained. The performance has been elaborate. And the point could not be more explicit: China intends to demonstrate that even a man of extraordinary achievement, wealth, international...more

China Arrests 100 House Church Members, Offers Cash Rewards for Their Capture

A new wave of crackdowns on house churches in China has led to the arrests of dozens of Christians, with authorities even offering cash rewards for information leading to their capture.

The report from International Christian Concern (ICC) says an “ongoing, massive campaign by Chinese police” in and around Wenzhou City in Zhejiang Province resulted in the detainment and arrest of more than 100 local house church members between Dec. 13-18.

The crackdown included checkpoints, police patrols, and “cash rewards being posted for the capture of house church leaders,”...more

Choosing Your Word of the Year

Growing up, I had those friends who chose their "word of the year." They'd get so giddy decorating their notebooks, to-do lists, and even outfits to match this theme. Honestly, I didn't understand the hype. By February 1st, I knew most of them would give up and throw in the towel, vowing to try again next year.

But this year, in 2025, I saw something different. A few weeks ago, I was listening to my dear friend Moncia Kirkland's podcast. She talked about the word "new" and how God's definition of that word looked nothing like what she thought it would in...more

Patriots’ TreVeyon Henderson Urges Fans to Choose Christ Over Worldly Gain

One of the NFL’s top running backs ended 2025 by pointing fans beyond the world’s fleeting promises to the eternal peace of Jesus.

TreVeyon Henderson shared a message of faith on Dec. 30, posting a well-known Bible verse alongside images of himself on the gridiron – a subtle reminder that what people often chase, money and fame, does not bring true joy.

“Then Jesus said to His disciples, ‘If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will...more

The United States military action in Venezuela drew applause from many evangelical leaders, who said it marked a long-awaited stand against oppression and corruption.

U.S. military forces over the weekend carried out a swift operation in Venezuela that included targeted strikes on key locations and the capture of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, who were flown to the United States to face charges related to drug-related offenses and narco-terrorism conspiracy.

The End of MTV

MTV is phasing out its music video channels, marking the end of an era that revolutionized pop culture by making visuals as crucial as sound and globalizing youth culture.

The End of MTV

MTV, short for Music Television, is taking down its music television. Specifically, the all-music video channels that launched it into pop culture. MTV itself seems fine; it’s just dropping the music videos and going all in on the immensely popular reality-TV programming it has become known for of late.

MTV launched in 1981 as a channel for teenagers, airing nothing but music videos. What no one thought would work soon became a force in the worlds of music, television, film, fashion, sports, and even politics. The first video that aired, the Buggles “Video Killed the Radio Star,” was prescient.

As Gillian Orr, who worked at...more

Is Your Parenting Disordered?

Is Your Parenting Disordered?

Recently, The NY Post reported on the rise of “digital detox camps” where worried parents hire experts at up to $8,000 a session to help their children be less addicted to screens. The kids hate it. As one founder described in a related Wire article, campers experience actual withdrawal symptoms. Some stash extra phones in their backpacks, and some even run away to avoid being separated from their devices.

The popularity of these “detox camps” relates curiously to another emerging trend: “kid concierge” services. Parents pay hundreds of dollars for “professionals” to teach their children how to organize their backpacks, how to throw a ball, and how to ride a bike. Apparently, the new “gig economy” involves “gig parenting.”

Of course, there are many instances...more

Pro-Life Leaders Push Back after Trump Urges ‘Flexibility’ on Pro-Life Hyde Amendment

Leading members of the pro-life community are expressing concern after Donald Trump suggested Republicans should be “flexible” on the Hyde Amendment, a long-standing pillar of the movement that bars the use of taxpayer dollars to pay for abortions.

Although Trump campaigned as a supporter of the Hyde Amendment, he struck a more tentative tone Tuesday, telling House Republicans they “have to be a little flexible on Hyde” during negotiations over health care legislation.

“You know that you got to be a little flexible. You...more

Hundreds of Gen Z Worship Jesus at Dallas New Year’s Eve Conference

For hundreds of teens and young adults in Dallas, New Year’s Eve was not about parties or fireworks, but about beginning a new calendar year by worshiping the living Christ.

How American Churches Are Erasing Millions in Medical Debt—and Why It Matters

Millions of Americans are drowning in medical debt, facing delayed care and financial ruin, but a powerful movement is emerging as churches step in to make a life-changing difference.

How American Churches Are Erasing Millions in Medical Debt—and Why It Matters

Debt has been a problem for centuries, but did you know that the medical debt crisis in the U.S. has recently reached a breaking point?

According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), this crisis impacts over 100 million Americans. Not only are high costs at stake, but these individuals have inadequate insurance, pop-up bills, and low coverage, often leading to financial ruin, delayed care, or even bankruptcy. KFF further reports that 1 in 6 Americans claims “debt,” just under half say it’s difficult to afford proper health care, and...more

Ninth Circuit Issues Landmark Religious Liberty Decision

Ninth Circuit Issues Landmark Religious Liberty Decision

A decision issued on Tuesday, January 6, by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit may be one of the most significant religious liberty decisions of 2026.

In Union Gospel Mission of Yakima v. Brown, the court affirmed that religious organizations have a constitutional right to hire according to their faith, even for “ordinary” or non-minister positions, and they can do this without government interference. It’s a moment worth celebrating, not only for the plaintiff, Union Gospel Mission, but for every church and ministry organization that takes its faith seriously.

At the heart of the case was this question: Can the government force a Christian organization to hire employees who openly reject its faith and mission? Attorneys for the state of Washington said, yes. The...more

Mamdani’s Fantasy of “Warm Collectivism”

Mamdani’s Fantasy of Warm Collectivism

In an inaugural address delivered on New Year’s Day, Zohran Mamdani promised “to replace the frigidity of rugged individualism with the warmth of collectivism.” Social media quickly filled with memes that paired the quote with images of the victims of Nazi, Stalinist, and Maoist “warm collectivism.”

For all Mamdani’s disarming smiles, his choice of words was intentional. Regurgitating language from revolutionaries and ivory tower intellectuals, he is not attempting to hide who he is and what he plans to do. As he also said in his inauguration speech:

We will govern without shame and insecurity, making no apology for what we believe. I was elected as a Democratic Socialist, and I will govern as a Democratic Socialist. I will not abandon my principles for fear of being deemed...more

What’s Really Lost When a Church Closes

As thousands of churches face closure, we explore the profound loss of community centers, shelters, and vital economic contributors that extends far beyond spiritual services.

What’s Really Lost When a Church Closes

On a recent episode of WBUR’s On Point, host Meghna Chakrabarti devoted an episode to what is lost when a church closes. And make no mistake, churches close. She reported that an estimated 15,000 churches in the U.S. are likely to close in the next few years.

So, what’s lost when a place of worship closes?

More than most imagine.

She rightly noted that churches are more than places of worship. They are community centers, shelters, and food banks. They respond to disasters in their community, whether fire or tornado, flooding or hurricane, with resources, volunteers, and shelter....more

Texas Pastor Warns of Idolatry Amid Increase Usage of Idolatry Among Christians

A Texas pastor is warning against the danger of idolatry as a growing number of Christians are turning to AI for spiritual guidance.

A recent report earlier this year showed that the use of AI has increased by 80% across all ministries in churches. Additionally, Christians have been using The Text With Jesus app, powered by OpenAI's ChatGPT and developed by Catloaf Software, to talk with an AI version of Christ, the apostles, additional biblical characters, as well as a counselor.

When You Should Know It’s Plagiarism

In the digital age, pastoral plagiarism has reached new levels of deception, with some leaders metaphorically photoshopping themselves into others' stories to claim credit.

When You Should Know It’s Plagiarism

In Season 3 of The Office, titled “A Benihana Christmas,” Michael Scott gives his new girlfriend, Carol Stills (played by Steve Carell’s real wife), a Christmas card where he had photoshopped himself into her family ski trip, replacing her ex-husband. He presents it as a “Ski-sons’ Greetings” card, and claimed they had a blast.

Carol, of course, points out that they never went skiing together and adds, “This is so weird.”

It ended their relationship.

In a cutaway, Jim Halpert speaks into the camera: “It’s a bold move to Photoshop yourself into a picture with...more

Bible sales in the United States hit new records in 2025, reflecting a growing hunger for hope in a world that often feels on the brink. Circana BookScan reports that 2025 “marked a 21-year high for Bible sales in the U.S.,” with 19 million units sold, according to Publishers Weekly. Franklin Graham Calls for a 'Time of Prayer and Repentance' Amid Rising Tensions

Evangelist Franklin Graham, who leads Samaritan’s Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association as president, is urging Americans to join him in a “time of prayer and repentance” this week, as he stressed “our nation is in trouble” due to a hostile political climate.

“If you think our nation is in trouble now, just wait," Graham, the son of the late evangelist Billy Graham, wrote on X Monday afternoon. “As our streets boil over with hate, anger, crime, drugs, and just sheer hopelessness, is there something we can do?”

Robin Hood and Britain’s Future

Robin Hood and Britain’s Future

A new Robin Hood adaptation for TV is more fanciful than the older Disney cartoon version that featured talking animals. At least that one got the history right. The new series, which will air on MGM+, pretends that Christianity was an alien religion to England in the late 1100s. Part of the plot is that villainous Normans attempted to force Christianity down the throats of noble, pagan Anglo-Saxons.

This is nonsense. Though the Normans were not the nicest people, forcing Christianity on the Saxons was not on their agenda. The Saxons were already Christians and had been for a long time.

According to legend, Joseph of Arimathea brought Christianity to what is now England in the first century. Even if that is just legend, there is evidence of believers in Britannia in the second...more

After 47 years, Iranians have had enough of the suffering and are demanding a change. The Islamic Republic has been brutal, destroying Iran and its potential in the world. Those who remember 1979 are having buyer’s remorse. Those whose protests then mistakenly ushered in the ayatollahs and their Islamic extremism regret being deceived and vowing not to be deceived again. That’s why,...more

Corrie ten Boom’s Life of Faithfulness

Corrie ten Boom’s Life of Faithfulness

2026 is the 55th anniversary of the publishing of The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom. Anyone in need of another resolution for the New Year would do well to read (or re-read) this biographical account of a Christian family in the Netherlands who were arrested by the Gestapo during World War II for hiding Jews in their home. Corrie and her sister Betsie were eventually taken to Ravensbrück in Northern Germany, one of the most devastating concentration camps. There, the two endured horrific conditions but also met the miraculous hand of God. Page after page portrays faith even in fearful trembling, and how God can turn all things for His glory. It also highlights a deep commitment to thankfulness by the sisters.

For example, Corrie and Betsie immediately noticed something about Barracks...more

Technology and Tyranny: AI, Hubris, and Chronological Snobbery

Technology and Tyranny: AI, Hubris, and Chronological Snobbery

Technology gurus differ when it comes to the potential of AI, government power, and humanity’s future. Some, like Noah Yuval Harari, are all-in, embracing the promises of youth, peace, and prosperity. Others are more measured. Elon Musk looks forward to the day people can “download” their minds into robots, but also worries that AI could “go rogue.”

Peter Thiel is one of the more interesting cases. A recent episode of the “Theology Pugcast” described him as a theologically curious “tech-bro” who has reintroduced the word “antichrist” into popular conversations when warning of AI’s capabilities. Thiel also thinks AI is the best way to fight that monster.

The Cure for America’s Spiritual Cancer

Explore the alarming parallels between ancient Israel's spiritual decay and modern societal struggles, revealing a timeless remedy for "spiritual cancer."

The Cure for America’s Spiritual Cancer

I once read an intriguing excerpt from a book; paraphrasing, it says: “A very prosperous and divided nation is about to implode. Many hold to a form of godliness but deny the true God. As drunkenness and addiction spiral out of control, sexual sin and perversion have captivated the minds of millions.”

It continued: “Marriages are crumbling, families deteriorating, and children are suffering. There is little hope for justice when oppression and abuse run rampant. The cry goes out, ‘Is there any hope?’”

Although it fits the bill, this is not a description of America; it’s the description of spiritual...more

When Fear Steals Joy: Dancing, Social Pressure, and the Christian Call

From the Charleston to TikTok, dance has long defined youth culture, but a new fear of being filmed is causing people to stop dancing at live events.

When Fear Steals Joy: Dancing, Social Pressure, and the Christian Call

If there is anything that has marked youth culture, at least from the 20th century forward, it has been dancing.

In the 1920s, it was the Charleston. During the 1930s and 1940s, it was Swing and the Jitterbug. With the dawn of the rock’ n' roll era, you had the Twist and the Mashed Potato. How can you mention the 1970s and not mention Disco? Fast forward into the 1980s, and you had the Electric Slide and Breakdancing. Enter the 1990s, and you had hip-hop moves like the Hammer dance. Okay, as a courtesy to our collective embarrassment, I won’t mention the Macarena....more

Senate Hearing Goes Viral after Doctor Won’t Say Whether Men Can Get Pregnant

A Senate committee hearing on the safety of the abortion pill Wednesday drew widespread attention after a Republican senator and a doctor sparred over basic biology, with the witness declining to say whether men can become pregnant even though she emphasized the importance of trusting science.

The exchange in the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions involved GOP Sen. Josh Hawley (Mo.) and Dr. Nisha Verma, who was invited by Democrats on the committee to support continued access to abortion pills.

A video clip of the exchange quickly...more

Getting the “Theism” Right in New Theism

Getting the Theism Right in New Theism

Not that long ago, a collection of voices such as Sam Harris, Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, and Ayaan Hirsi Ali loudly proclaimed that God is a delusion and religion a poison. However, in a recent essay for the Claremont Review of Books, Matthew Schmitz argued that the New Atheism—which surged after 9/11 and decried religion as the source of conflict and cultural decline—has largely run its course. In its place, he contended, is a New Theism.

Schmitz highlighted two 2025 books as evidence. Ross Douthat’s Believe: Why Everyone Should Be Religious argues that faith is both plausible and personally necessary. Jonathan Rauch’s Cross Purposes: Christianity’s Broken Bargain with Democracy defends religion’s social utility in sustaining liberal democracy. To that list could be added Charles Murray’s Taking...more

The New York Giants made a massive move late Wednesday night, as they're now working to finalize an agreement with former Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh to be their next head coach, CBS Sports NFL insider Jonathan Jones confirmed.

Harbaugh was immediately the most sought-after name on the market once he and the Ravens parted ways, and the Giants struck quickly to work on a deal with Harbaugh before he could take reported meetings with the Tennessee Titans and Atlanta Falcons this weekend.

From the Giants' perspective, this has to be considered an...more

Iranian Exiled Prince Reza Pahlavi Asking for Prayer that Iranians would Gain Freedom from Regime

Protesters in Iran rallied around Reza Pahlavi, the son of the former Shah of Iran, as they tried to overthrow the current wicked government. The fall of the currency, 50 percent inflation, and government corruption caused people to take to the streets and try to force change.

The unrest captured the attention of the Trump administration, and Pahlavi was given the opportunity to meet with Trump's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, according to CBN.

They accused one of the church’s pastors, David Easterwood, of allegedly working as the acting field office director for ICE in Minnesota, Fox 9 reported.

The Global Hunger for Silence: What Gopeng Sanctuary Reveals about Modern Burnout

In a world where Gen Z faces unprecedented burnout, a unique jungle retreat in Malaysia offers a phone-free sanctuary for young adults seeking genuine rest and a break from the pressures of "adulting."

The Global Hunger for Silence: What Gopeng Sanctuary Reveals about Modern Burnout

Retirement homes used to be for those who spent their lives working and finally achieved rest. Elderly couples who fell in love in high school, worked hard for the next 50 years, and then were finally able to relax in luxury. The paradox here is that by the time they usually arrive at this rest, they’re too old to travel, too tired to stay out late, and too crippled in health to do all the crazy things they once dreamed of. Doesn’t sound much like the American dream, right?

In Perak, Malaysia, a new retirement home is making headlines, but not because it’s for the elderly,...more

The Story and Words of Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. You Won’t Hear in the Media Today

Listen carefully to all the celebrations of Martin Luther King Jr. across the country today. Listen very carefully. What you’ll hear endlessly is the word doctor before King’s name. What you won’t hear is the word that best describes him, and what he really was: reverend. Indeed, he was the son and grandson of Baptist ministers. King was a man of God. It animated every aspect of his life, even what he studied.

Pastor Son’s Trial and the Crisis in South Korea

Pastor Son’s Trial and the Crisis in South Korea

A few thousand worshippers at last week’s Sunday service at Segero Church in the city of Busan, South Korea, sang loudly, “All my life, you have been faithful. All my life you have been so, so good …. I will sing of the goodness of God.” The song is appropriate for a congregation that has grown so dramatically from about 20 members a few decades ago to a 23-acre campus buzzing with life and activity. After the service, dozens of church members prepared a free lunch for everyone who wished to stay, as they do every week.

This practice, an elder told me, makes it possible for the church to also offer meals for the wedding celebrations that take place at Segero Church nearly every weekend, at no charge to the marrying couples. It is an essential way for the church to address the crisis of...more

Iran’s Spiritual Revolution

Witness the growing defiance against an imposed Islamic regime as Iranians express their disillusionment, leading to a surge in Christianity and a yearning for true spiritual freedom.

Iran’s Spiritual Revolution

Most people refer to the 1979 hijacking of Iran by extremist ayatollahs as the Islamic Revolution. I like to refer to it as the Demonic Revolution. I am praying that Iran’s demons will be exorcised shortly, and allow Iran to have a true spiritual revolution.

The history of Islam in Iran is relatively new compared to its long-time proud Persian history. It was only introduced with a previous Islamic invasion and forcing of Persians to become Moslem, following one of the most extreme strains of Islam. The parallels to the 1979 Demonic Revolution are painfully similar. Today, Iranians are demonstrating their contempt for Islam not just by...more

Why Millennials and Gen Z Are Walking Away from Political Parties

I grew up in a home with a Republican Father, a Democrat Mother, and as a result, a strongly willed family with opposing viewpoints. I never knew who to vote for, why voting was so important, or how to decide what mattered most. Today, it seems that Millennials and Gen Z are facing similar dilemmas as they walk away from political parties and choose independence instead.

Recent analysis shows that a majority of Millennials and Gen Z now identify as political independents, signaling a significant shift away from traditional party affiliation. Many younger voters express frustration with...more

Five Essential Spiritual Exercises for Finishing Well

The Washington Post recently ran an article titled “Five Essential Exercises for Aging Well.” It quickly zoomed to the top of their “Most Read” list. As a man in his sixties, I was one of the readers. The exercises included push-ups, dead lifts, pull-ups, squats, and calf raises.

I was obviously familiar with all five. They were, fortunately, well within my reach. For the most part, they don’t require going to the gym or having special equipment. It was just a good reminder that these five are the most important for aging well.

But what of the essential exercises for aging well spiritually? And more to the point, finishing...more

Where Has All the Creativity Gone?

Where Has All the Creativity Gone?

Is This The Worst-Ever Era of American Pop Culture? That was the question asked by a recent Atlantic article about the sheer number of prequels, sequels, remakes, and expanding “cinematic universes.” Among the most notable recent examples in the world of film is Wicked, which reimagined the world of Oz.

The same creative stagnation can be seen in music. While earlier generations could produce distinct kinds of music, it’s increasingly difficult to find meaningful stylistic differences today. Some of the most popular songs aren’t even composed by humans but generated by AI. Where has all the creativity gone?

Many explanations could be offered, but one deserves particular attention. There’s been a precipitous decline of the kind of education in America that awakens the moral...more

The Law Behind the Law

The Law Behind the Law

On a recent episode of The Daily podcast, New York Times legal expert Charlie Savage, while discussing President Trump’s capture of Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro, said, “There are two types of law: international law and domestic law.”

In fact, many experts have appealed to international law in recent years and recent days, from the Russian invasion of Ukraine to the Israeli retaliation to the October 7 massacre to the American raids on Venezuela.

Not only do such appeals suffer because bad actors such as Moscow, Beijing, and Tehran head up many of the international bodies charged with overseeing such law, but also because it’s difficult to explain how such morality came to be and why it should be binding. After all, unless some kind of transcendent law exists, appealing to international law is a game of...more

Let Leaders Lead

How a biblical call for diligent leadership is being hindered by a modern fear of authority, mirroring a societal trend of excessive red tape that stifles progress.

Let Leaders Lead

In Paul’s great manifesto to the Roman church, he makes a clear and unambiguous statement: if you have the gift of leadership, lead diligently. Or as the New Living Translation translates the Greek into English: “In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well.... If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously” (Romans 12:6, 8).

There are two biblical truths about spiritual gifts upon which all Christians agree: first, that every Christian has been given at least one gift through the indwelling power and presence of the Holy Spirit. Second, these gifts are meant to build up and serve the church.

Rams’ Matthew Stafford Goes Viral for 2:30 a.m. Kiss with Sleeping Daughters after Loss

One of America’s most famous sports fathers is going viral for videos that show him kissing his sleeping daughters well after midnight – just hours after a devastating NFC Championship loss.

Matthew Stafford’s wife, Kelly, shared home security footage on Instagram showing her All-Pro husband quietly walking into the bedrooms of their four daughters at 2:30 a.m. Monday and kissing them before – presumably – going to bed himself.

Stafford’s Los Angeles Rams lost at Seattle 31-27 Sunday night despite his 374 passing yards...more

Leaders of Bethel Church in California have apologized for failing to act promptly and transparently in response to allegations that Shawn Bolz engaged in sexual misconduct and misleading prophetic practices.

Bethel Leaders Admit Failures in Response to Allegations against Shawn Bolz

The Jan. 25 statement from senior associate leader Kris Vallotton, senior leader Bill Johnson, and lead pastor Dann Farrelly opens by acknowledging “mistakes and failures in the way we navigated our responsibilities to the global Body of Christ” – and comes after apologist Mike Winger posted a video online detailing allegations about Bethel and Bolz. That video was titled, “The Skeletons in Bethel’s Closet Are Now Going to Speak.”

“We take responsibility for the fact that we did not properly and fully bring discipline, closure, or clear and timely...more

Rethinking Josephus and His Claims about Jesus

Rethinking Josephus and His Claims about Jesus

AI may have helped solve an ancient puzzle. For his new book Josephus and Jesus: New Evidence for the One Called Christ, Dr. T. C. Schmidt used AI to test something long in dispute: what the first century historian actually said.

Flavius Josephus was a Jewish scholar, priest, and military leader whose work has provided understanding into Jewish life both during his time and before. He personally knew figures who appear in the Bible, such as King Agrippa from Acts 26. While he wrote about many of them, including John the Baptist and James, the brother of Jesus, his most famous and controversial passage was of Christ Himself.

Though the section on Jesus runs less than 100 words, it describes how He was viewed by Jews while the Apostles still lived. Josephus said that Jesus was a wise man who performed amazing...more

Winter Mega Storm Knocks Out Power and Impacts Over 11,000 Flights

Over the last three days, a massive winter megastorm has impacted large portions of the U.S., leaving 800,000+ without power and 11,000+ without flights. Beyond travel disruption and negative temperatures, the scale and urgency of this snowy blast has been one of the most severe in decades.

According to CBN News, the most affected regions have included the Midwest, Northeast, and South. Weather conditions have resulted in snow, ice, freezing rain, sleet, and high winds. Compared to typical winter storms and past severe events, this one is a doozy. With more than 200 million Americans...more

What Christians Need to Know about the Looming Potential Government Shutdown

The government narrowly avoided a shutdown with a temporary funding bill, but the battle intensifies over the Department of Homeland Security and ICE. House Republicans passed all 12 appropriations bills, but Senate Democrats threaten to...

What Christians Need to Know about the Looming Potential Government Shutdown

For those who are wondering, “Wait, didn’t we just have a government shutdown?”

The answer is yes, back in the fall of 2025. However, for all the squabbling, the bill that brought that shutdown to an end was written in such a way that only a few essential federal agencies would be funded for a year. All other agencies only received last year’s levels of funding, and that would only last through the end of January.

This Year’s Battleground
Last year’s bickering revolved around the...more

While trust in clergy has reached a record low, it still surpasses professions like Congress and telemarketers, according to a new Gallup survey.

Americans’ Confidence in Pastors, and Other Professions, Keeps Falling, Poll Finds

Americans’ trust in the honesty and ethical standards of pastors continues to decline, but it remains far higher than that of professions at the bottom of the list, including Congress and telemarketers.

That’s according to a new Gallup survey, which found that a record-low 27 percent of U.S. adults rate the honesty and ethics of clergy as high or very high, while 48 percent rate them as average and 18 percent as low or very low.

The nation’s trust in pastors has fallen sharply over the past decade. In 2015, 45 percent of Americans rated the honesty and ethics of clergy as high...more

Florida Judge Bars Church from Holding Services Inside Its Property at Strip Mall

A Florida church's right to worship is clashing with private property rules in a case that could set a precedent for religious liberty.

Florida Judge Bars Church from Holding Services Inside Its Property at Strip Mall

A Florida church is appealing a court order barring it from holding in-person worship services in a unique case that pits religious liberty against private property restrictions.

At issue is a property purchased in 2025 by Pastor Roderick Palmer inside a strip mall to house Coastal Family Church in Flagler Beach, which the association that manages the tenants says cannot be used for worship services or large gatherings under its rules. The church is located next to a Dollar Tree in a mall known as “Flagler Square.”

The association filed suit, and last week, Florida Judge Sandra Upchurch ruled in favor of the...more

The Enduring Word

The Enduring Word

Christianity is a worldview that is fundamentally word-centered. Words are central to God’s nature, purposes, and work in the Creation, Redemption, and Restoration of the world. According to Genesis 1, God spoke creation into existence. His power and authority are displayed in the words that brought reality into being.

In this sense, postmodern thinkers are not entirely wrong to claim that words shape reality or that narratives provide the structure in how we know. What they miss is Whose words create the world and Whose story we are in. Only within the Christian worldview is the true nature and purpose of language understood. Could you even imagine the world without the wheel? It’s simple, really, but undeniably one of the most important inventions in the history of the world. Think of the vast areas of industry and progress made possible...more

You Were Made to Matter at Every Age

Beyond planning for wealth and health, a looming retirement crisis centers on maintaining a sense of "mattering" – feeling valued and useful in later life.

You Were Made to Matter at Every Age

At some point in the arc of a life, you begin to realize you have fewer years ahead of you than you have behind you. It’s called getting old. When this happens, you begin to give increased attention to things you may have put off to the side during younger years, such as your health or retirement.

In a recent piece in the Wall Street Journal, Jennifer Breheny Wallace pointed out the retirement crisis that no one warns you about: mattering. We plan for future wealth and health, but give little thought to what it will take to continue to feel seen and heard. She writes of the angst that ambushes many:

It was an erosion...more
