The El Paso Police Department has arrested a man suspected of burglarizing a local church and vandalizing it with Satanic symbols.

As reported by CBN News, 27-year-old Isaac Jordan Soto-Olivarez was arrested last week for allegedly vandalizing the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church on July 17. According to authorities, Soto-Olivarez was caught on camera damaging multiple items in the church, leaving behind an estimated $4,100 in damages.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered holy oil was poured across different areas of the church and crosses turned upside down. Additionally, Soto-Olivarez wrote the number "666" on multiple items in the church, including a rosary candle, a mirror, and the tabernacle in the prayer room.

El Paso Police later arrested Soto-Olivarez with the assistance of the FBI's West Texas Border Corruption Task Force. They charged him with one count of Burglary of a Building, one count of Criminal Mischief Damage/Destruction to a Place of Worship, and one count of Evading Arrest or Detention. He is currently being held at the El Paso County Detention Facility.

Authorities recovered multiple suspicious items at his residence while executing an FBI search warrant.

In a statement released following the incident, The Diocese of El Paso thanked authorities and asked for prayers for the law enforcement officers working the case and the alleged vandal.

"We are grateful to the El Paso Police Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation for their diligent work in investigating this incident, and we appreciate their professional response," the statement said. "We are thankful that the physical damage to the church was minimal and has been fully cleaned up since the incident almost two weeks ago."

"Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church is open and has continued uninterrupted with weekly and weekend services as normal," the statement continued. "We ask for continued prayers for those who work in law enforcement, for the alleged perpetrator, and for the entire Most Holy Trinity community."
