A new behind-the-scenes video of The Chosen has gone viral, depicting cast members weeping on and off camera during the Season 6 crucifixion scene as they recreate one of the pinnacle moments of Christianity. The two-minute video, recorded in Italy, includes no dialogue and no scenes of actor Jonathan Roumie as Jesus but nevertheless captures the raw emotion on set. In one moment, actress Elizabeth Tabish (Mary Magdalene) is seen crying during filming and then -- moments later -- off set, as she is consoled by director Dallas Jenkins. The video also shows Lara Silva (Eden) and Amber Shana Williams (Tamar) overcome with emotion.

In the video's final seconds, a visibly exhausted and emotional Jenkins is comforted by his wife, Amanda.

The video has more than 800,000 views and thousands of comments.

"Broo if the actors and the whole team were still sobbing after shooting the scene. How are we going to fare with this?? I'm crying already," one fan wrote.

Another fan added, "Same here. Fighting back the tears myself, and that was only a sneak peek."

Although Roumie is not shown in the video, it nevertheless offers a glimpse of what fans can expect -- featuring a Roman soldier driving nails and a shot of one of the two criminals hanging on a cross. Filming took place on a dusty hillside overlooking Matera, Italy

The first few episodes of Season 6 are scheduled to be released late next year.

In May, Roumie said that portraying Jesus during the crucifixion was unlike anything he had filmed.

"It's not so much a pressure -- it is a responsibility. It's a sacred responsibility. It's a holy responsibility," he said.

The series, he said, is ultimately about pointing people to Christ.

"This is all just an offering to Him and for souls and for reaching people on a level that they haven't reached."
