A young believer who boldly turned from his past to follow Christ was shot and killed in church just days after proclaiming God’s Word. Here’s how his church is standing with his grieving family.



Pursuit Church Seattle in Washington raised $70,000 for a congregant who was killed outside the church last week while attending a young adult ministry event. The church held a prayer vigil for 28-year-old LeBron Givaun and launched a fundraiser for his family on GoFundMe, which will cover "memorial expenses," "funeral costs," "living expenses," and "the ongoing needs of his wife and children."

"The church community is coming together to honor LeBron's memory and help his family navigate the difficult days ahead," the fundraiser states. "Every contribution will go directly toward funeral costs, living expenses, and ensuring that his family feels the support and love of those around them."

The online fundraiser raised $71,643 as of Wednesday morning, exceeding its $50,000 goal.

Givaun was killed last Thursday while he was attending a young adult ministry gathering, The Christian Post reports. According to police, the shooting was believed to be a targeted attack. The suspect, however, remains at large after fleeing the vehicle in a white Hyundai Elantra. The car was later found engulfed in flames at a nearby church parking lot.

Speaking to local outlet King 5, Pursuit Church Seattle Lead Pastor Russell Johnson remembered Givaun as a "born-again" Christian who had recently become part of the congregation.

"His life was changing," Johnson said. "He decided to get married. He changed the music he was making and wanted to sing songs that highlighted his testimony."

Givaun, who was known for making Hip hop/rap music, shared on Instagram last month that he was going to remove his "old music" and announced "I gave my life to Christ."

"I don't want to push a negative type of music anymore," he added. "I just want to apologize to anybody I've led astray."

Givaun also shared that his future social media posts are going to be "about God" and asserted that "God is real."

Just three days before his death, Givaun released his new single titled "I'm On Fire (With The Word of God)."

He had also shared an Instagram video encouraging people to attend his church.

The Seattle church shooting was one of several shootings that took place in several U.S. cities last week, including Harvey, Illinois; Chicago, Illinois; and Anaconda, Montana.
