Jelly Roll delivered a powerful and emotional acceptance speech at the 67th Grammy Awards, crediting faith and his wife for his life transformation.



Country artist Jelly Roll shared a message of faith during his acceptance speech last night at the 67th Grammy Awards show.

Jelly Roll, whose full name is Jason Bradley DeFord, delivered an emotional acceptance speech about faith and his personal transformation after winning his third Grammy award Sunday night for his album Beautifully Broken, for best contemporary country album, Yahoo News reported.

“Jesus, I hear you, and I am listening, Lord, I am listening, Lord,” Jelly Roll said as he took the stage.

He then also thanked his wife, Bunnie Xo, who was seated in the audience, for contributing to his life transformation along with the Lord.

“I would have never changed my life without you. I would have been dead or in jail. I would have killed myself if it wasn’t for you and Jesus,” the country artist said, proceeding to thank his label, BBR Music Group, and country radio.

“There was a time in my life, y’all, where I was broken. That was why I wrote this album. I didn’t think I had a chance,” Jelly Roll continued. “There was a moment in my life that I thought all I had was a Bible this big and a radio the same size in a six-by-eight foot cell and I believed that those two things could change my life. I believed that music had the power to change my life, and God had the power to change my life. I want to tell y’all right now that Jesus is for everybody. Jesus is not owned by one political party. Jesus is not owned by any music label. Jesus is Jesus, and anybody can have a relationship with Him. I love you, Lord.”

Earlier in the evening, Jelly Roll received his first two Grammy victories, for best country duo/group performance (for “Amen” with Shaboozey) and best contemporary Christian music performance/song, for his collaboration with Brandon Lake on “Hard Fought Hallelujah.”

Other Jelly Roll’s for best contemporary country album were Kelsea Ballerini (Patterns), Tyler Childers (Snipe Hunter), Eric Church (Evangeline Vs. The Machine), and Miranda Lambert (Postcards From Texas). Beautifully Broken, which was released in 2024, featured the No. 1 Country Airplay hits “I Am Not Okay,” “Liar,” and “Heart of Stone.”

Meanwhile, other country artists that won Grammy Awards Sunday night included Zach Top for best traditional country album (Ain’t in It for My Health), Chris Stapleton for best country solo performance (“Bad As I Used to Be” from the F1 movie soundtrack), and Tyler Childers for best country song (“Bitin’ List”).
