Joni Lamb, a co-founder of Daystar Television Network and a significant force in global Christian broadcasting, has passed away at the age of 65 after a severe back injury.

Daystar’s Joni Lamb Dies at 65: Helped Build Worldwide Christian Network

Joni Lamb, who co-founded Daystar Television Network and helped build it into one of the largest Christian broadcast networks in the world, died May 7 following a serious back injury. She was 65.

Lamb founded Daystar alongside her late husband, Marcus Lamb, in 1993, growing it from a single Dallas-area television station into a global Christian media network. She was the company’s president.

Lamb suffered a serious back injury in recent weeks that led to complications involving other underlying health issues, according to a statement from Daystar.

“Prior to her recent back injury, Lamb had been dealing with serious health matters that she chose to face head-on and in private,” the statement said. “The back injury compounded those challenges and led to a more serious medical situation than anyone had anticipated. Despite the dedicated efforts of her medical team and the prayers of so many around the world, her condition worsened in the last few days.”

Lamb was the host of Joni Table Talk and co-hosted Daystar’s program Ministry Now alongside her husband, Doug Weiss. They married in 2023.

“Joni’s love for the Lord and for the people we serve shaped this ministry from the beginning,” the Daystar Board of Directors said in a statement. “We grieve her loss, and we are grateful for the legacy of faith she leaves behind.”

Marcus Lamb died in 2021. In its statement, Daystar said the family is requesting prayers and privacy. Details about a memorial service will be shared by the family at a later date.

“Daystar’s mission does not change today,” Daystar said. “Previously, Lamb worked with the board to ensure an executive leadership team was in place so that the ministry would continue uninterrupted. Programming will proceed as scheduled, with on-air tributes to follow in the coming days.”

Daystar’s mission is to “‘reach souls with the good news of Jesus Christ’ through interdenominational, high-quality, family-friendly programming,” according to its website.

“We are thankful that we do not grieve as those who have no hope,” Daystar said in a statement. “And until we see Joni again, we will continue in this mission of taking that hope, that promise, to the whole world.”

I wouldn't be here if not for the prayers of my grandmother. She prayed nightly for each of her many grandchildren by name. I wouldn't be here if not for the prayers of my mother that sustain me to this very hour. There are moments that I'm fighting darkness and the pressures of this world, and I know my...More
