Actress Shae Robins shares her mission to create uplifting, family-friendly entertainment that shines a light on culture, fueled by her faith and a desire to set a positive example for her children.



An actress who has become a staple of rom-coms on Great American Family says her goal is to create entertainment that spreads light into the dark crevices of the culture while producing content her children can watch and “be proud of.”

Shae Robins is an actress and singer known for her roles in such films as Destined at Christmas, A Christmas Prayer, and Blessings in Disguise – family-friendly movies that blend romance with uplifting themes. Robins also has been outspoken about her personal faith and is part of a new partnership between Great American Media and Glorify that transforms messages from the films into audio devotionals. Glorify is a Christian devotional app.

“I’m a mom now. I have two little girls, a five-year-old and a two-year-old, and they're going to grow up watching me,” Robins told Crosswalk Headlines. “I am their example. I am setting that example for them, and I want to make content that they can be proud of, that I can be proud of.

“There's enough negativity and things going on in the world. I think people right now are desperately seeking peace, goodness, and faith. I'm just grateful for a platform that I can be part of to help spread the light of Christ,” she said of the popularity of Great American Family and its streaming service, Great American Pure Flix, as well as Glorify.

Robins’ path to an on-screen star, though, wasn’t typical.

“God had a big hand in how I got started in rom-coms,” she said.

She received a degree in Music, Dance, and Theater in college and dreamed of one day starring on Broadway in New York City – spending much of her young adult life gaining experience through performances in local theater productions.

“I was part of the union and was kind of ready to make that decision, but I got married at a young age, at 21, and my husband had a great, stable career,” she said. “... It just felt like either he would have to give up his dreams and our stability or I would be giving up mine, and so it was a wrestle internally with God.”

But one day, Robins was driving to work at her local theater in Utah when she sensed God calling her to let go of her childhood dreams and trust Him with her future.

“I was just talking to God about just life. It wasn't about my career or anything specifically, and – out of nowhere – I felt this overwhelming confirmation and peace that New York wasn't right for me right now,” she said.

Up until that point, a Broadway career had been her “identity” – a “dream that I had since I was a very little girl.”

“And yet in that moment, I felt God giving me the peace and comfort that I needed to be able to let go of that identity that I had so clung to. I was like, ‘Okay, God, you're in charge.’ And then from there on, everything just kind of seemed to fall in place.”

Within a few months, Robins had landed her first role at Great American Family. She’s also been able to maintain her passion for musical theater – and in the past two years fulfilled a lifelong dream by portraying Belle in a local production of Beauty and the Beast.

Her partnership with Glorify has also allowed her to more openly share her faith. In the app’s seven-day audio devotional series, she reprises her Blessings in Disguise character in reflections centered on faith, family, and everyday grace.

“I’m so grateful to have been a part of it.”
