Pat Robertson, the founder of the Christian Broadcasting Network, is stepping down from his role as daily host of "The 700 Club" after 60 years of television ministry.

"Today's show will be my final as host of The 700 Club," Robertson said during CBN's 60th anniversary broadcast. "My replacement will be my very capable son, Gordon, who will take over as full-time host of the program."

Robertson, 91, will devote his efforts to teaching students at Regent University, a private Christian university in Virginia Beach, Va.

"'Good and faithful' doesn't even begin to describe my father's service to CBN for 60 years. His legacy and the example of his prayer life will continue to lead The 700 Club in the years to come," said Gordon Robertson, who has served as co-host and executive producer of The 700 Club for two decades.

"And the best part is, he is just going across the street to Regent University and will be on The 700 Club regularly in the future," he added.

Beginning in October, Robertson will appear on a monthly, interactive episode of The 700 Club, in answering viewer emails. According to CBN News, he will also appear as a senior consultant on international affairs on occasional broadcasts.

In 1960, Robertson founded the CBN as the first Christian television network in the U.S. and later added The 700 Club to its programming in 1966. Since its founding, The 700 Club has become CBN's flagship programming and is one of the longest-running programs in broadcast history.

Throughout his tenure, Robertson conducted in-depth interviews with a variety of guests, including former presidents, prime ministers, Christian leaders, and celebrities.

In light of the 60th anniversary of the 700 Club, CBN released a documentary titled ‘The CBN Story'. The documentary, narrated by Kevin Sorbo, looks at CBN's humble beginnings to its global impact today.
