Michigan point guard Elliot Cadeau suffered an allergic reaction on Wednesday before the Wolverines' team flight to Indianapolis for the Final Four, the university said in a statement. Cadeau fell ill due to something he ate, according to Michigan's release.

"The doctors evaluated Elliot and he is fine," Michigan spokesperson Tom Wywrot said in the statement. "Out of an abundance of caution, he is receiving medical supervision and will be traveling to Indianapolis later today."

Cadeau is averaging 10.2 points and 5.8 assists per game for the Wolverines, who play fellow No. 1 seed Arizona in one of this weekend's two national semifinals. The winner goes on to play in Monday night's National Championship game against either UConn or Illinois.

Cadeau's ability off the dribble gives the Wolverines the ability to play a free-flowing offensive attack, which is a staple of coach Dusty May's philosophy and makes Michigan one of the nation's toughest teams to guard.

"He's a savant with what he's doing," May said during the NCAA Tournament. "And he probably doesn't even realize all the things that he's doing because he's so intelligent."

A former five-star transfer from North Carolina who signed with the Wolverines last March, Cadeau's best NCAA Tournament performance came in the Sweet 16 against Alabama when he scored 17 points and handed out seven assists with only one turnover in 34 minutes of action.

It was Michigan's school-record 34th win of the season and put the Wolverines on the cusp of the program's second Final Four in the last decade. Cadeau is shooting a career-best percentage from beyond the arc and is expected to return for the 2026-27 campaign, giving May and the Wolverines their starting backcourt again, along with freshman Trey McKenney.

Cadeau has a strong relationship with May, who courted him to Ann Arbor during last season's transfer portal cycle.

"I like how he wants to develop his players and how he has so much confidence and trust in me," Cadeau said last week. "He believed I was capable in leading my team to the Final Four, and I really wanted to play for a coach like that. He's a very generous person off the court. When I was moving in, he came to my apartment and helped, like moving furniture up (the stairs). A lot of head coaches wouldn't do that. Just stuff like that, he's a really good guy off the court."

Questions remain centuries after disappearance of England's first colony on Roanoke

The site of the first English colony in America sits largely overshadowed by the famed beaches on the barrier islands that form North Carolina's Outer Banks.

In some ways this is fitting, given that the colony on Roanoke Island explored in 1584 and later settled first in 1585 and then again in...More
