In a video posted to Twitter by Media Research Center, a group of mothers confronted the Loudoun County School Board in Virginia after discovering that the district had made pornographic books available to their children.

In the video, the parents read excerpts from the books featuring material that could be objectionable to some readers, detailing situations ranging from brutal sexual assault to underage teenagers engaged in multiple sexual activities.

According to CBN News, the excerpts the parents read were from the county's 9th grade reading assignment choices. The first mother read from a book that detailed a violent, abusive and torturous sexual assault on a woman as if it were a casual sexual experience between two people. The mother read the horrific passages from the book where the boy self-described his actions, stating, "I grab her by the neck and start punching her," and then that he locked her "in a closet for a couple of days," where "she kept screaming, begging to be let out" and was "begging for water."

The second mother read an excerpt in which a girl describes the genitalia of a "pretty basic" boy with whom she had sex. Another mother read an account of a man who was sexually assaulted by a female.

In response to the parent's concerns over the content their children were being exposed to, the Loudoun County Public School district stated that parents are given the option to opt their children out of the reading materials and choose a different book for them to read.

"Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) reminds parents that if they feel a book is not appropriate for their student, they may request an alternate text be assigned. (When a reading assignment is optional, there are several selections available.) There will be no academic penalty for a student should they request an alternate text to fulfill an assignment," a statement from the school district reads in part.
