What to know about the Trump-Zelenskyy meeting in Florida:

o President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met in Florida at Mar-a-Lago to discuss security guarantees for Ukraine, days after Zelenskyy said he had a "good conversation" with U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, Mr. Trump's son-in-law.

o Mr. Trump said Sunday that he had a "good and very productive" call with Russian President Vladimir Putin before the meeting with Zelenskyy. Mr. Trump said his message to Putin is that they have "got to make a deal" and Mr. Trump said he believed "we have the makings of a deal."

o A draft 20-point plan, agreed upon by U.S. and Ukrainian negotiators, is under review by the Kremlin, although Moscow has shown no signs of budging on its territorial demands. Zelenskyy said Sunday he and Mr. Trump are 90% agreed on the plan, both calling territorial issues like the Donbas a "very tough question."

Trump to host Zelenskyy and European leaders in January

President Trump is expected to host Zelenskyy and other European leaders in Washington in January, the Ukrainian president said Sunday in a joint conference with Mr. Trump following their meeting at Mar-a-Lago, which lasted roughly two and a half hours.

Mr. Trump said he and Zelenskyy also spoke with the leaders of France, Finland, Poland, Norway, Italy, the U.K. and Germany, as well as the presidents of NATO and the European Commission, on Sunday as they continued to discuss plans to end the war Russia had waged on Ukraine.

Zelenskyy said he appreciated the progress made by American and Ukrainian delegates, emphasizing the importance of security guarantees for Ukraine and saying that they were at 90% agreement on the 20-point peace plan.

When asked if the U.S. made any assurances to Ukraine in terms of security, Mr. Trump said, "We want to work with Europe and Europe is going to take over a big part of it, as you can imagine, they're right there."

Mr. Trump and Zelenskyy both called territorial issues concerning Donbas a "very tough question," with Mr. Trump noting a sticking point has been "some of that land has been taken, and some of that land is maybe up for grabs."

Asked about a possible timeline for ending the war, Trump said "if it went really well," it could take a few weeks.

"In a few weeks we may know one way or the other," Mr. Trump said, adding, "But it could also go poorly."

The U.S. and Ukrainian presidents had been meeting in a dining room at Mar-a-Lago, joined by members of their respective delegations. Witkoff and Kushner, along with White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth were among those in attendance.

Ahead of the meeting, Mr. Trump didn't set a deadline for reaching a peace agreement, saying his deadline is "getting the war ended."
