The Psalm of the Sin Offering (4)

I will declare Your name to My brethren; in the midst of the assembly, I will praise You.
Psalm 22:22 NKJV

The Psalm of the Sin Offering (4)
Our text today is resurrection language. We find in John 20:17, after His resurrection, the Lord Jesus declared the name of the Father, saying to Mary, "Go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.'"

In Hebrews 2:12 we see this verse quoted referring again to our resurrected Lord, in the midst of the assembly, leading His own in praise to the Father! This points to a coming day when that Lamb, as though it had been freshly slain, will stand before the throne of God as the center of worship and praise in the presence of the Father. He will one day stand before the Father and say, "Here am I and the children whom God has given Me" (Heb. 2:13; cf. Isa. 8:18).

But this also reminds us of what our Lord Jesus is doing as we gather unto His name now. He takes His place in the midst of the saints, leading us in our worship and praise to the Father as we pour out our hearts in praise to Him. The Lord Jesus is both the object of praise and the divine choir director!

This psalm ends with the Lord Jesus having His rightful place among the Jewish nation. There is praise and worship to Him as their Messiah (vv. 23-26), and He will have His rightful place on the earth, reigning in righteousness and peace (vv. 27-31).

As we consider this wonderful, yet sobering psalm, our heart must be full of love for the One who knew no sin and yet was made sin for us. Take a moment to pause and praise Him for what He has done on Calvary's cross for you.

-- Tim Hadley, Sr.

Lord Jesus, we worship and bow at Thy feet,

And give Thee the glory, the honor that's meet;

While through Thee, O Savior, our praises ascend

To God and the Father through worlds without end.

-- Marie de Fleury

And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son. Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing: For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; ...More

Grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
(2 Peter 3:18)

God in His grace has centered every blessing for us in Christ. Without Christ, we have nothing, nothing but our sins; with Christ we have all things, and therefore want nothing in addition to Christ. As...More

SPIRITUAL WARFARE I

When we are told to put on the whole armour of God, one thing becomes clear instantly. This is the fact that there is a God. We cannot be talking of the armour of God if there is no God. Anyone who thinks that there is no God is a fool (Psalm 14:1). You have to pray that God would reveal Himself to you. The...More
