Living a Life of Hope (9)

In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.
Ephesians 1:13–14 NKJV

Living a Life of Hope (9)
The Christian hope finds security in the facts of Scripture and not in the feelings or emotions of the human heart. The Word of God helps us realize that our salvation is not based on anything we have done to be saved or anything we must do in order to stay saved. The Christian hope is built on the foundation of the finished work of the Son of God upon the cross!

Salvation is a gift of God (Rom. 6:23; Eph. 2:8), to those who turn to God and believe (Jn. 3:16; Rom. 10:8–10). Salvation is promised to all who ask (Jn. 6:37), which results in one having complete confidence in the Lord who offers it (Tit. 1:2). On top of the solid foundation of the Word of God, we have the security of the seal of the Holy Spirit. This seal gives us assurance even when we may not “feel saved.”

When doubts or discouragement come in, hope clings to the promise of the Holy Spirit. We read in 2 Corinthians 1:21–22, “Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.” The Spirit of God is the guarantee of our hope. This is the wonderful hope that floods the heart of the believer, we are safe in the hands of a loving Father, secured in the finished work of the Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, and sealed by the Holy Spirit who testifies with our spirit that we are sons of God. We are “kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time” (1 Pet. 1:5).

-- Tim Hadley, Sr.

This high honor we inherit, Thy free gift through Jesus’ blood;
God the Spirit with our spirit witnesseth we’re sons of God.

Know When To Say Nothing

The Sovereign Lord has given me a well-instructed tongue.' Isaiah 50:4 NIV

Isaiah writes: The Sovereign Lord has given me a well-instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed.'

Let's face it;...More
