The Everlasting Light

Thy judgments are a great deep … with Thee is the fountain of life: in Thy light shall we see light.
Psalm 36:6, 9 ???

The Everlasting Light
Just as the natural sun sometimes sinks in clouds, so the Christian occasionally has a bright rising, and a still brighter noon, yet goes down in gloom. But we know that when the day of immortality breaks, the last vestige of earth’s shadows will forever flee away. The Lord promises then, although we do not know what He is doing, we shall know hereafter (Jn. 13:7). He seems to keep some things from us to test our faithfulness or to lead us to live in a trustful submission.

In the light of eternity, the darkest of the events of this life will be seen to have been bright with mercy, and even the severest trials to be only the severer aspects of His love. Then, do not pry curiously or censoriously into God’s present dealings with you. Wait with patience until the great day when all is disclosed. My soul, is it night with you here? It is written, “Night shall not be there” (Rev. 21:25). Be patient! Your Lord shall soon appear and that glorious appearing shall usher in an eternal noon-tide that knows no twilight. Meanwhile, humbly and patiently wait, for if “weeping cometh for the night … at morn there is rejoicing” (Ps. 30:5).

Then, “Thy sun shall no more go down … for Jehovah shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended” (Isa. 60:20). Everlasting light! The everlasting light of God will be glorious and, in heaven, you will be a joyful citizen, sinless, sorrowless, tearless. You will never tire of hearing the cry, “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, who was, and who is, and who is to come” (Rev. 4:8).

J. R. MacDuff

There all’s unsullied light,

Our hearts let in its rays;

And heavenly light makes all things bright,

Seen in that blissful gaze.

J. N. Darby

GOD PROMOTES

When God set out to deliver the children of Israel from Egypt, it was to take them out of captivity and bondage and to lift them up. God has come to take you out of your current location in the miry clay to your promised land - a land flowing with milk and honey. This simply tells us that the God of Abraham, Isaac...More

TRAIN UP YOUR CHILD 1

One major undoing of modern civilized society is an abounding generation of untrained children. This trend did not just start, but has been on for some time now. The result is that many untrained children of few years back have become parents themselves. It is the multiplier effect of their lack of proper home...More

A LIBERAL HEART?

Read:
, God asked the widow to feed the prophet before taking care of herself. At the end of the day, what was not enough became more than enough. To what extent do you practice giving as an individual, family, church or nation?

Those who never give will continue to beg, if you desire to...More

Hebrews 11:24-28

Author Zora Neale Hurston wrote a book titled Moses, Man of the Mountain. Published in 1939, it retells the story of Moses and the Exodus. Hurston altered details of the story for her own purposes, weaving in allusions to African American history, folklore, and song. She reflected...More
