Walking in Holiness

For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness. Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who has also given us His Holy Spirit.
1 Thessalonians 4:7–8

Walking in Holiness
Over the years and in several parts of the world, many have tried to live in holiness. Some would withdraw from the community where they were living and isolate themselves, even going far into the wilderness. One such “saint” decided to live on top of a high pole, relying on others for his daily needs. Some others moved away to live in caves or huts. Later, it was thought that living in a monastery was a good solution. However, God’s plan for all believers, male and female, young and old, is that they live devoted to Him, wherever they are. Each Christian is to live under the Holy Spirit’s control: spirit, soul, and body. All believers are encouraged to present their “bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service” (Rom. 12:1). Whether young or old, all are exhorted to present their bodies for God’s glory, as a gift or sacrifice to Him, in the power of the Holy Spirit and through personal faith.

To live in this manner and please our God, we must walk “in the light.” Seeing ourselves in God’s light, we judge ourselves, setting aside self-will and the lusts of the flesh. Such a life of holiness implies self-control, being fully devoted to our Lord. Let us confess what is not according to God, removing it in the power of the Holy Spirit. All believers are exhorted to “not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind (vv. 2–3). May we be committed to doing God’s will in every realm of life until the Lord comes. How encouraging for believers to have the help of the Holy Spirit! He provides the needed resources for our lives, which are set apart for God, for His honor and glory.

A WORD ON CLEAVING TO THE LORD (2)

Observe, they are exhorted with purpose of heart to cleave to the Lord. A distracted heart is the bane of a Christian. When my heart is filled with Christ, I...More

THE BREVITY OF TIME

How recklessly this age speeds to self destruction! The word of God is accurate and authentic in its prediction of the latter end of the world and in warning His saints of the end times, so that they are not overtaken by the prevalence of evil in this age! In virtually every facet of life, there is an overturning...More
