Choosing

By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt.
Hebrews 11:24–26

Choosing
Moses had been raised under the careful teaching of his parents who knew that at any time Moses could be taken back from them to Pharaoh’s palace. What energy must have been invested by his father and mother into little Moses, bringing him up in the ways of Jehovah, hiding God’s Word in his heart. One day the inevitable happened. Moses was taken from them and, as the adopted son of Pharaoh’s daughter, he was taught the Egyptian ways, enjoying all the privileges of his position.

One day Moses made a decision. He calculated that all the riches of Egypt were not of value to him compared to the glory which was to be revealed. Oh how we as parents need the Lord’s help to instill these values in our sons and daughters!

But it falls on each one of us to continually make a similar decision for ourselves, as Moses made. We too need to choose. We may have had the great blessing of growing up in a Christian home, perhaps saved, baptized, and taking the emblems in our local gathering at a relatively early age. Perhaps we did so out of conviction; perhaps because our friends were doing so; perhaps out of obligation to please our parents, not to disappoint them or bring shame on them. But we need to make a decision just as Moses did, a decision not for anyone else except for ourselves, surrendering ourselves to the Lord to please Him because we want to be obedient to Him in response to His profound love for us. Satan tries to use the false glitter of the world to distract us because his desire is to rob the Lord of His rightful place of honor in our lives. But Moses deliberately chose God, esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than whatever the world and Satan could offer.

ATTRIBUTES OF GOAL GETTERS

The children of Israel were intimidated for forty days by Goliath. David came to the scene and made enquiries about what would be done to whosoever defeated the giant. The reply he got fascinated him and straightaway, he set for himself the goal of defeating the giant. To David, nothing could stop him from being...More

Know When To Say Nothing

The Sovereign Lord has given me a well-instructed tongue.' Isaiah 50:4 NIV

Isaiah writes: The Sovereign Lord has given me a well-instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed.'

Let's face it;...More
