You Are Not Your Own

Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
1 Corinthians 6:19–20

You Are Not Your Own
As Christians we belong to God twice: first as those He has created, and second as those whom He has purchased. What’s more, to quote J. T. Mawson, “God has not only bought us with a great price, but He has taken possession of that which He has purchased … He has sent down the Holy Spirit to make our bodies His abode.”

The Holy Spirit has come to dwell in your heart, that you may yield to Him and allow Him to display Christ in you. This is the purpose of a temple: it is both a dwelling and a consecrated place where God is set forth. Do you ask what God would want you to do? He would have you show forth Christ using what belongs to Him: your body and your spirit. In his second epistle to the Corinthians, Paul says that Christ “died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again” (2 Cor. 5:15).

If someone you love handed you an item that was precious to them and asked you to use it for a designated purpose, because you love them, you would not take the item and abuse it in a manner it was not intended for. In like fashion, let us ask the Lord for help to yield ourselves to Him, for we belong to Him.

Eric Clermont

Take my life, and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee;
Take my heart, it is Thine own,
It shall be Thy royal throne.

HOW PROPHETIC ARE YOUR NAMES?

The name you bear is very important because it serves as your identity and your future may be connected to it. The name a person bears is sometimes indicative of the experiences he or she will encounter in life. Take for instance Moses: this name means "drawn out of water"

Look For Teaching Moments

What do these stones mean?' Joshua 4:21 NIV

One of the most effective ways to teach is through teaching moments'. Jesus did that. When a fig tree didn't produce fruit, He cursed it and it immediately withered up. That got the disciples' attention (see Matthew 21:18-22). Then He explained that unless...More
