The Name of “Jesus” in Hebrews (2)—Jesus Greater Than Moses

Consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Jesus, who is faithful to Him that has constituted Him, as Moses also in all His house. For He has been counted worthy of greater glory than Moses, by how much He that has built it has more honor than the house.
Hebrews 3:1–3 ???

The Name of “Jesus” in Hebrews (2)—Jesus Greater Than Moses
Jesus is worthy of greater glory than Moses! This statement would have brought home, once again, to the Jewish Christians why they had followed Jesus of Nazareth in the first place. Some of them, for various reasons, were getting their eyes off of Him and back on to the temple and the things related to the Law of Moses. How important Moses seemed to these believing Jews, and to all the people of Israel! They needed this reminder from the apostle: Moses was an honored figure, but there was One much greater.

A similarity between Christ and Moses is pointed out here in the passage: “Jesus” was always faithful to God; Moses was also faithful in all that God had appointed him to: the tabernacle system, the house of God in the wilderness. But here, there is a great and wonderful contrast between the two. Christ is presented as having much greater glory because one who builds a house has greater glory than the house itself; and “He who has built all things is God” (Heb. 3:4). The implication is abundantly clear: Jesus is God. This truth is not only brought out in Hebrews but is woven as a golden thread throughout the New Testament, indeed throughout the whole Bible. There are three striking passages which present Christ’s divine glory as the Creator: “All things were made through Him” (Jn. 1:3 ); “because by Him were created all things” (Col. 1:16); “by whom also He made the worlds” (Heb. 1:2). Marvelous truth! Jesus is indeed worthy of greater glory than all. May we give glory to Him as we worship Him today!

FASTING IS NECESSARY

To relate with the Holy Spirit, you must be holy. You must also exercise a living faith, pray and fast. Some people will tell you that because had finished the work of salvation, there is no need to fast. To them, fasting is completely needless and is some form of self-inflicted punishment. But they forget that...More

HOW PROPHETIC ARE YOUR NAMES?

The name you bear is very important because it serves as your identity and your future may be connected to it. The name a person bears is sometimes indicative of the experiences he or she will encounter in life. Take for instance Moses: this name means "drawn out of water"
