Christ Is the Center
God has placed the Son, the image of the invisible God, at the center of His counsels and plans (Heb. 1). The fullness of the Godhead was pleased to dwell in Him (Col. 1:19).

Practically, the question we can ask ourselves is, Have we put Christ at the center of our plans? Is something else more important than Him? Have we replaced the top priority in our lives with something other than God’s Son? All else will fail, but He will not. Every other plan will come to nothing, but if we keep Christ at the center of all we do, and all our purposes, there will certainly be blessing.

Christ is the center of God’s counsels, and He is also the center of God’s revelation to mankind. Do we want to know who God is? The Son of God has revealed Him to us. In his Gospel, John opens by saying that they beheld His glory, and this glory was of the only begotten of the Father. One might think that this glory would be manifested in judgment and condemnation, but John states quite the opposite: it was characterized by grace and truth. How do we portray Christ to this world? Do we judge and condemn, or do those around us see in us a reflection of this grace and truth?

For several thousand years there was this impassible divide that could not be removed, because God was divine and man was a sinner. And then God stooped to take on humanity, sin apart. He humbled Himself and became obedient unto death. He came to show us who God is, but not at a distance; He came to bring us to God! The center of our relationship with God is Christ the Son. It is by Him that we can approach God, and, as we approach, God sees us as accepted in Christ. To Him be the glory!
