God’s Word and His Promises Stand Firm

But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.

2 Timothy 3:13–14 ; 2 Timothy 4:3–4

God’s Word and His Promises Stand Firm
If we see many things around us that are contrary to the teaching of Scripture, not only in this world—which should not surprise us—but even among believers, we must not think that it is because God’s Word has become outdated, for “the word of our God stands forever” (Isa. 40:8). It is rather this world that is rapidly moving away from God and His Word. It is the “principalities … powers … rulers of the darkness of this age” who are waging war against all that God has established (Eph. 6:12). What we see around us—the moral darkness, the departing from sound doctrine or from the faith, the agitation of the nations—are only the symptoms of this spiritual warfare. But let us take heart, for God’s Word has not changed, and walking faithfully in it is still what pleases the Lord, who “is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Heb. 13:8).

Even if, unfortunately, some believers have abandoned certain teachings of God’s Word, being influenced by the present age, let us continue faithfully, according to God’s Word, so that the light of the truth may always shine forth in this present darkness. Not only in our gatherings, but also in our families and around us in our lives, as we await the soon coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

“I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown” (Rev. 3:11).

DIVINE CHAMPION 2

Yesterday we discovered that our Lord Jesus Christ is the number one champion and that He makes His people champions. We also saw that a divine champion is a person raised up and supported by God.

One attribute of a champion is strength. The divine champion is one who receives divine strengthening....More
