They Sought the Lord

Where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.
Matthew 18:20

They Sought the Lord
There were a number of people in the Bible who sought the Lord with purpose. The result of their encounters was great blessing to them. This should encourage us to make a purposed effort to be with Him.

There was a woman who had a physical ailment for twelve years and who had spent all her living on doctors, without results. She, with determination and despite the obstacles, did not allow anything to prevent her from being in contact with the Lord. As a result, she was healed (Mt. 9:20–22).

Likewise, Zacchaeus, having heard of the Lord, did everything in his power to put himself in the Lord’s pathway to see the Lord, even though it appeared a silly thing to do for a man such as he was. The Lord saw him, saw his heart’s desire and met his need, and as a result salvation came to his house (Lk. 19:1–10).

A man who was a paralytic was unable to do anything for himself, but his four friends could and did. They carried the paralytic to where the Lord was. Unable to get close to the Lord because of a large crowd, they climbed up to the roof, opened it, and let down the friend on his bed (Mk. 2:1–5). Nothing stopped them from bringing their friend to the Lord. He was healed.

Thomas, one of the twelve, was not present with the other believers in the upper room when the Lord presented Himself to them all. We do not know why, but he was not there. Although the rest tried to encourage Thomas, he lived a miserable week of doubt and denial. One week later the Lord presented Himself to Thomas, and when he saw Him, Thomas worshiped, saying, “My Lord and My God!” (Jn. 20:28). His doubts vanished and he was blessed. These examples show us that seeking to be with the Lord brings blessing and peace. May we determine in our hearts to be with Him!

One of themselves, a prophet of their own, has said, Cretans are always liarsThis testimony is true; for which cause rebuke them severely, that they may be sound in the faith.

Today God is calling you (3)

I have prayed for you, that your faith will not fail.' Luke 22:32 NASB

God wants you to do His will, but you'll never reach the place of spiritual maturity in which you're free of Satan. You can overcome him, but you can't eliminate him. Look at Peter. He had only one gear: overdrive. He was always...More
