No Peace Until the Prince of Peace Comes

And His name will be called Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6

No Peace Until the Prince of Peace Comes
The Prince of Peace came, but He didn't bring peace. All the trouble and war that existed before His coming continued after He came. Why? Because He was rejected by His people. In the words of the parable they said, . They crowned Him with thorns and nailed Him to a cross. Actually, in His death and resurrection He did something far greater than bringing peace on earth. He accomplished the work of redemption whereby we can have peace with God and also laid the groundwork for eventual peace on earth. Having broken the power of death, He returned to heaven to sit on His Father's throne. He is there now, waiting.

Meanwhile, down here, we are all aware of what is happening—wars, violence, turmoil, suffering—anything but peace. The Prince of Peace is not bringing peace on earth. But we know by the Word of God that someday He will do so. He will bring "on earth peace," but for that to happen, something is required. "Behold, a king will reign in righteousness The work of righteousness will be peace" (Isa. 32:1, 17). This prophecy still waits to be accomplished. When this time comes there will be peace on earth—peace in the world and among all nations.

How will that be? A King will reign in righteousness, and that King is none other than the Lord Jesus Christ. He will come out of heaven and He will take over the government of the world. When the Lord reigns, He will not allow any form of disobedience to His holy will. All who disobey, and all who resist His authority, will be removed from the earth, and there will be a thousand-year kingdom of peace in this world. But that time is still future, and there is yet much trouble, sorrow, and strife that will take place before the Prince of Peace finally comes and brings peace on earth.
